Simply Chic!

Yongying is my official first pedicure customer! She opted for an express pedicure and she chose OPI Baby It’s ‘Coal’ Outside!, a black shimmer with tiny silver bits!

As I’ve mentioned earlier, she absolutely love embellishments and again chose a gold square stud for her big toes and ss4 crystals for the rest!

Gelish: 2-Tone Red Gradient

CNY is coming and what’s the best way to begin the new year?? By having red on your nails of course! :D

Photobucket

Aggie is my first customer during the CNY period and her gradient is done using Gelish Vegas Nights as the base and Gelish Hotzy for the bold contrast. Gelish June Bride is added at the finally end for the finishing touches! So sparkly!!!! I suggested adding crystals and hexagon glitter pieces but Aggie was afraid that the crystals might fall off and she didn’t like how the glitter pieces looked on her nails. I’m glad she settled for this classic gradient one :)

Gelish: Another Dotted Affair

Sally’s colleague, Siaw Hui wanted to do the same design as what I’ve done for Sally (my boyfriend’s mum) here. I did some minor changes but still kept the theme very closely with the inspired nails from Nail Max!

Photobucket

This time, I used Gelish Make A Difference and Gelish Take Action alternately with China Glaze White Out and OPI I’m An I-ndia Mood For Love for the roses! I really love the Gelish pinks from the breast awareness set!!! :)

Because of time constraint… I only did the dotted lines background on alternate nails. I think they look pretty good like that too! As she wanted them to last until CNY, I suggested not putting any crystals at all so that the manicure wouldn’t be ruined if the crystals did drop. However, she wanted crystals on her thumbs only! (you can’t really see it)

Gelish: Subtle Marbling with Crystals and Beads

Elieen came with almost all her nails broken and there was 5 of her nails with fake tips stuck on them. When I asked her how much she paid for this at a salon, she said she paid over a $100. That’s daylight robbery!!! Its not even gel or acrylic extension, just normal polish with gradient effect on fake nails and then glued on her nails.

So before you step into a salon, make sure you do enough research or have seen some of their manicurists work first before committing!

Photobucket

Did a half-moon + marbling because Eileen doesn’t like polka dots, flowers etc so we decided to make it very simple! Half-moons make your nails look much longer, and this really helps in Eileen’s case because she peeled the other fake tips off her nails by herself and her real nails broke off in the process.

I used Gelish Vegas Nights for the base and Gelish Make A Difference and Gelish Sheek White for the half moon and the marbling.

She also requested for crystals and I did a mix of black and white crystals and golden bullion beads :)

P.S. Congratulations to Eileen!!! She’s getting married on Saturday and this is the nails she’s going to sport on that day! :) she even gave me her wedding photo for a keepsake, thank you!

Feminine Funky Zebra

Yesterday was so tiring!!!! Went over to Teacher Jess place for another nail course and I was there from 11am to 6pm!! Hehe I just have to keep practicing and I will be able to offer 3D embossed art in no time :) will blog in more detail soon~

Another funky zebra mani with alternate base colours! ^^ Charissa came over to my place this morning to remove her gelish (it lasted on her for 3 weeks!) and did a classic manicure with nail art! I’m glad this nail art is a popular choice!!! Hehe I just love adding silver glitter accents in between the zebra stripes to spice things up a little and I think it completes the entire look :)

I used OPI Girls Just Want To Play and OPI Elephantastic Pink for the base. Feels kinda weird to finally able to use polish on customers again, lol!

Gelish: Dreamy Rose Tips

Miao Xian came over today to remove her last Gelish manicure and get a new one! ^^ She also brought a friend along; Chen Li for a manicure too! (More details about her nails in the next post!)

She requested for a nail art that she googled and it is from Simply Rins!

This is my take on it…

Photobucket

Miao Xian chose Artistic Gloss Wham for the base and I added on the art with acrylic paint. The base colour is much more darker and more navy; somewhat similar to OPI Dating A Royal except that Wham has a hidden shimmer. My Nikon camera freaked out a little and the colours are so much different!

Well… my skills at drawing roses isn’t the best yet so I will definitely practice harder! I suggested adding white polka dots to fill up the background but Miao Xian loves it like this… simple and yet classy! :)

P.S. I bought a new tablecloth from Spotlight last night ^^

Manicures, manicures and more manicures!

What a busy evening I had on Friday night! Hehe I love it when customers do nail art cuz I’ll have pretty photos to post up to share!

LIKE Mental For Polish’s fanpage for more frequent updates :) Thank you for your lovely feedback, I am going to improve and do better each time! ^^

Abby’s floral accent nail using Essie Turquoise and Caicos!

Kacey’s gelish with polka dots and ribbon. I feel like I did badly on my ribbon and I couldn’t justify the cost that I quoted so I charged her lesser. The base colour used here is Seafoam, a pretty pale mint green!

Kim’s polka dot manicure using Color Club’s Wild At Heart. Normally I don’t do polka dots on shimmery bases but this one looked really good! Haha Kim said it looked like presents! :)

I had a fun time listening to her stories LOL!

OPI Princesses Rule! & Nubar Black Polka Dot

Hello all! My nails look totally horrible in camera :( They don’t really look that bad actually… T-T I am still moisturizing my hands with cuticle oil and hand cream so I hope all that dryness gets better!

Photobucket

I’m back to polish again and I have Nubar Black Polka Dot layered over OPI Princesses Rule! I love how PR is a girly colour but yet it teams up well with BPD :)

Gelish: Rocker studs with Zebra Print

This is my gelish mani for the past week! Except for the nail growth, everything remains intact!

I’m so in love with Gelish right now!!! Because I’m so busy with tutorials and projects, I don’t have the time to paint my nails everyday anymore so I’m glad I invested in Gelish! ;)

I am actually heading down to PNC on Tuesday to get more gelish colours! Definitely getting Sleek White and Black Shadow because they’re staples! I don’t know what other colours to get though, but I want some glitter :D

Photobucket

I used Gossip Girl for the accent nails with Take Action from the breast cancer awareness set. Who says only October is the breast cancer awareness month to wear pink? ;)

Both polishes have silver shimmer in them and they’re so pretty up close! Take Action is a little bit more special, it has some kind of blue-green iridescent!

I also want to thank Ying for those gold round studs!! She was so nice to pass me a packet of them! She also gave me metallic stars and diamond shaped pearls ^^ I am still searching for square silver and gold flatback studs so let me know if you see them!

My zebra print seems to fade after a few days! I’ve no idea why though. :(

OPI ‘My Kind Of Briwn’

If you’re wondering what kind of name is that and guessed correctly… yep; its a fake OPI. I just love how they spelt ‘brown’. LOL. Anyway, this is one of the polish that my boyfriend got for me from China. It only cost about SGD$2 per bottle!!! One thing that I have to say about China OPI polish is that it almost got me fooled. It looks like the real thing, except the labels at the bottom which had different font names and codes and their polish names sort of gave everything away. The warning labels on the back of the bottle does show abit of discrepancy. A different font was used etc. It was a different grip on the bottles from my real OPI, feels very light and I felt I had no control when I was using it.

Photobucket

OPI ‘My Kind Of Briwn’ isn’t nowhere near brown but a plum colour with golden shimmer. I find it somewhat similar to OPI Shanghai Shimmer, except that the colour and shimmers are different. Oddly enough, I have no close dupes at all, great!

Something about the formula make me really go ‘WOWWWW’. The formula is excellent, very smooth and thick but manageable. I wasn’t expecting that from a China fake OPI. Also the brush is also a little bit bigger and wider than the usual OPI pro-wide brush.

Anyway, there’s some sort of smell from the polish. I can even smell it when it’s dry. And it smelled so similar to paint! I highly believe the smell is more toxic than the normal polish smells, lol.
