Gelish: Summer Daffodils

Angela initially wanted a dotted design at the tips but we ended up doing something entirely different! Haha I coaxed her into using my realistic Japan stickers! Unfortunately, I don’t have enough stickers in this design to replicate this set anymore :(

Photobucket

Did a dotted half moon using Gelish Waterfield and Angel.Pro 3! Also added random crystals at the sides of the stickers to complete the look!

Photobucket

I’m so tempted to do my nails after swooning over this set! Simple and yet so sweet! :D

Gelish: Cross Country

Janice came for her gelish fix for an upcoming wedding for a close friend of hers!

Photobucket

She sent me a photo from an issue of Nail Bible before her appointment and she specifically told me she wanted only the dotted line design! So I suggested using stickers from Japan and she was very open to my ideas and suggestions! So the end result was 3 different nail designs! The pinky and pointy finger had the realistic rose stickers with the dotted lines design, the ring and the thumb had lace stickers and the middle had crystals lining the rose stickers!

Colours used was Angel.Pro 3, Gelish Go Girl, Gelish Sheek White and Gelish Black Shadow!

The entire set ended up looking so sweet and feminine which was what Janice wanted! :)

Gelish: Dainty Tiaras with Lace Accent

What’s on Mabelline’s nails? Accent lace design from the recent issue of Nail Max and the other fingers; princess tiaras is inspired by Ying here and here! Pictures don’t do this design justice, it is much more sparkly in real life!!

Photobucket

Used Gelish Vegas Nights and Angel.Pro 3 for the base colours and lined the half-moons with a silver striper from Misa! Also added crystals for each finger; hehe this looks like the crystals are hanging by a thread! The lace design is drawn using acrylic paint!

As we’re (Mabelline is my classmate ^^) starting our attachment next week; this set of nails are so work-appropriate and so dainty-looking!

Gelish: Floral Lace Borders

This is one of my sweetest set ever, it could even pass off as bridal nails! Poh Wei has already knew what she wanted on her nails when she saw my nail art wheels! Love customers like these because they’re decisive and that saves alot of time :)

Photobucket

Poh Wei chose one of my newest additions; Angel.Pro 3 for the base colour! Did a subtle marbling with crystals and a really sweet floral lace for her! Hehe it kinda looks like a sticker! All nails is then topped with Gelish Waterfield for the extra shine and sparkle! I love this manicure sooo much <3

The drawing of the lace is very tedious, I must admit! I think I took the longest to do this manicure for that day!

JulieG Jesse’s Girls Collection: Swatches & Review

Hello guys!! Its been ages since I’ve done a collection swatches and review so I’m glad to do one for Jesse’s Girl! This is indeed a new brand to me and I ordered this collection online as soon as it was available on their website. There’s a big discount for buying the entire collection so I went with that. (USD$25) Shipping was quite fast, I received these in about a week or so.

If you’re unfamiliar with this collection, this was created by JulieG, a beauty guru on Youtube! She has created her own nail polish collection and I think its a pretty good one because there’s something for everyone! I’ve been watching her videos from the start, she’s very cheerful and informative and that’s what I look for when I watch beauty-related videos! You need to check her out if you haven’t! :)

This is her video introducing all her nail polishes if you are interested in knowing more!

All swatches are 2 coats with no top coat. I wished she did more shimmers though because they’re super gorgeous. This collection consists of 2 shimmers and 6 cremes.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Beauty Guru is a dark musky orange and it looks like a baked orange to me! (Not that I’ve eaten or seen one!) I like this one, the oranges I own are mostly brights or neon and its kinda interesting to see a musky one.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Fashion Friday is an gorgeous red-toned purple, very flattering! Its the colour of JulieG’s background when she makes videos when she’s sitting down and doing one of her makeup videos! I believe this is quite an exact match and I like it!

Photobucket

Photobucket

All Things Girly is a red-toned peach. This isn’t one of my top picks for this collection at all because it doesn’t look good against my skin and the formula was horrible! It was streaky and really thick! I guess I had to bring out my Seche Restore if I’m using it next time.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Stiletto is a light taupe with subtle silver shimmer. It kinda looks something in between purple and grey. A very office appropriate colour and a very unique one at that! I’ve never seen anything like this colour and I’m glad I own this one now!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Cupcake Frosting is a hot fuchsia, nothing very special actually so I’m gonna just keep this description short and sweet, haha!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Party Dress is a red-toned coral, very beautiful and flattering on my skintone. Love this!! I actually have this as my pedi right now and I love the great pop of colour.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Girls Night Out is a medium cobalt blue, very striking and much darker than pictured. Again, not a very unique polish but I’m surprised that this wasn’t an exact dupe of Barry M Cobalt Blue! I might do a comparison if you guys request :>

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mermaid’s Lagoon is a dark teal with subtle golden-red shimmer. Its more like a sprinkle of fairy dust of some sort in the polish, the shimmer is really pretty and dazzling! My camera kinda freaked out on this colour but I swear this colour is super gorgeous in real life! It is much more greener than pictured, not as turquoise as what the photo depicts.

As a whole, I had no issues with the formula except for All Things Girly. Their brushes are kinda unique, they’re thin, small and short so it kinda makes me go back to the bottle twice for each nail on average to have enough polish for my entire nail!

Well, so what’s your favourite from this collection? My favourites have to be Mermaid’s Lagoon, Fashion Friday and Stiletto! Any requests for comparison, please let me know ;)

Roses Nail Design

Hello everyone!!! It’s August already… can you believe it?? :O

Today, I have another roses nail design AGAIN and this is what I was sporting on my nails for the weekend. This time… I used a different technique to draw roses! I used acrylic paint and I had to use a very precise and thin brush to draw the petals! I almost gave up halfway but luckily I didn’t because it looked amazing! I received lots of compliments from the new friends that I made at Halloween Horrors camp this weekend, haha! It’s like something to talk about to break the ice lol. Anyway… the past 2 days had been awesome and tiring at the same time! My team won 3rd for Amazing Race but we won the enthu group cheer woohoo!!! So proud of my team ;) We actually mixed popular songs and changed the lyrics to suit our group’s name and it was H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!

The weather in Singapore has been up and down lately… I always can’t seem to take good swatch photos now :/

Photobucket

Photobucket

I used China Glaze Below Deck and OPI Alpine Snow as my bases and then I used acrylic paint for the roses and highlights. I’ve been having CG Below Deck for awhile now and its my first time using it as my full mani! I love it! Its a musky dark purple with greyish tones.

I’m getting better and better drawing/painting with my left hand, yay!

Short post with overspamming of pics, hope you don’t mind! ;)

Gumdrop Accent For Pink Wednesday!

Hello lovelies! It’s Wednesday again! I can’t believe that time passes by so quickly. I’m currently in the middle of my exam and I have two more papers to go! I seriously cannot wait till Friday!! I’m gonna take out all my nail art tools and accessories and start doing a proper nail art design :)

Anyway, yesterday morning my pet hamster; Random passed away. :( we buried him near a tree beside our house. Sometimes I come home thinking that he will still be there but in actual fact, he isn’t anymore. I am missing him and I miss the times where I shout his name out loud and jolt him from his sleep :’(

Okay, back to polish!! On Wednesdays we wear pink and I picked OPI I’m Indi-A Mood For Love. It does sounds like I’m In A Mood For Love. I love the word pun!!!! Thumbs up for OPI for the wackiest names. I giggled to myself once I figured out the hidden meaning, lol!

Photobucket

OPI I’m Indi-A Mood For Love is a beautiful dark pink with a touch of magenta in it. I love this one. Its looks cool on my skin tone and I really like it!

As the title suggests, I did an gumdrop accent nail on my ring finger with lots of random dots of different colours! They really look like candies and I thought of gumdrops! Okay… now they look more like those Willy Wonka Gobstoppers, haha! I drew a white heart (in case you can’t tell…) and decorated the borders with gold beads. I was debating on whether to choose silver beads or gold ones and I’m glad I went with the gold. Gold complements white much better :D

Illamasqua Spring/Summer 2011: Purity and Bacterium Swatches & Review

Good evening!! I just completed 2 tutorials and revised abit for my test so I guess I need a break so here I am!! ;)

Today I have for you 2 polishes from Illamasqua Toxic Nature collection for Spring/Summer 2011! I managed to buy these because of a spree held by 2 wonderful people, Jo and Hydaia from Miss-Jo Spree! Furthermore, there was a 20% discount on all items which was a great deal because I saved quite abit on money! I picked up the nail polish duo because they’re much cheaper compared to buying them individually and I was simply lured to Bacterium and got the duo which had Purity in it too. (£21.00 for 2 polishes in the duo compared to £13.50 individually)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Bacterium is a taupe brown frost with blue silvery iridescent shimmer, 2 coats. I am not in love with the frost finish because frost doesn’t really work on my nails! It’s an ugly pretty colour… I still can’t decide which catergory I’m gonna place this in!

Purity is a type of peach that isn’t a pastel and not under brights, it’s something in between, 2 coats. It is leaning slightly more to pink. This brings out the tan in my hands which I really like!

Photobucket

The application on these were not too bad, in fact they are marvelous! Purity was opaque in 1 coat, I gotta say I am very impressed! Bacterium was on the thin side and slightly watery. I think I might do a third coat if I do wear Bacterium out the next time.

OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy

I couldn’t find this anywhere… be it online or in stores! (well there’s probably stock at departmental stores but I’m not paying $23.55 for a bottle of OPI when I can get it for $10 elsewhere) I couldn’t find a decent swatch of it online and lots of Youtube gurus are raving about it so… I finally saw it at Ministry of Cube at my nearby mall and I got so ecstatic! That day, I wanted to buy Chanel Morning Rose instead but when I went to the counter, the lady said it was sold out. To be honest I was disappointed but then again, I was able to pick up Coney Island Cotton Candy and a couple of OPIs!

Last night, I’ve received my Illamasqua polishes! :D Gonna post swatches up soon, I promise!

Photobucket

OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy is a soft neutral peach. I did 4 coats for this. It was rather streaky and there was bald spots. 3 coats didn’t really cover them up so I did 4 for maximum coverage. I know most of you out there won’t do 4 coats for a polish but the colour really justifies when you reach 4 coats. The 1st coat was very neutral, almost musking the colour of my natural nails which I think it does look chic for office working ladies!

Today is Vesak Day, a public holiday but I’m in school now doing my project with my lovely bunch of poly mates :) (That was supposed to sound sad but it ended up being happy… LOL?)

Have a great Tuesday! Any pink ideas for Pink Wednesdays tomorrow?
