Gelish: Half-moon Marbling with Studs and Crystals

Chinese New Year is coming and these are my pre-CNY nails!!!! :) absolutely love it! I’m still stuck in the awestruck-ness of marbling so I had to incorporate that in… and also lovely half-moons!

I’m still not so sure on what to do my nails on CNY though… any ideas? I’d probably stick to florals again since I’m most confident in doing them with both hands. I remembered I did a red and orange gradient nails last year for CNY and I don’t think I want to repeat that! :P

Photobucket

I used Gelish Waterfield for my base and then ONS I-Gel Spring Fever and Gelish Sheek White for the marbling :) Spring Fever is so pretty, a very true orange; perfect for summer! Added a silver glitter liner on the half moons too!

And because I cannot resist adding studs (which I got from Ying a few days back!) I added them and crystals on alternate nails~

I realised my nails always look like its application was too thick because I was sure that I did 3 very thin coats. Teacher Jess told me it was because my nails are very u-shaped and those type of nails does look like that! Hehe I even got complimented that my nails are good hand models lol!

Oh… and I realised after I knew how to cut cuticles; I’m utterly obsessed with cutting them! Don’t you love how clean your nails look after a classic manicure? I do…

OPI Designer… De Better!

Good morning everyone!!!! Why did the weekends and public holiday pass by so quickly??? :(

Photobucket

OPI Designer… De Better! is a pale taupey-foil with orange glitter. A very unique combination I must say but I really like how both colours complement each other so perfectly! I actually got this polish 2 weeks ago and I’ve already worn them thrice for a full mani! I absolutely love foils because of how attention-seeking they are!!

This was one of my lemmings from the OPI Muppets collection, I’m still missing Warm & Fozzie!

P.S. the giveaway is closed. Please do not send in anymore entries! :) results will be out in a week or two :)

OPI Pros & Bronze

The first week of school had passed very quickly and now I have an immense pile of workload. I’m taking 7 modules this semester and I have 5 tutorials to do every week!! On top of that, projects are slowly streaming in for each module. Argh, what a great start to the sem! :(

Oh and another thing that I’m so excited about is that I’ve finally completed my driving lessons and all requirements! I booked my practical test on 29 November and I’m psyched! I hope I do pass on my first try because its kinda expensive to retake. Booking of the test cost about $180+ which includes vehicle rental and warm-up session.

Photobucket

OPI Pros & Bronze is one of the duo in the Serena Glam Slam set! I’ve already swatched and review the other half OPI Love Is A Racket here. :) OPI Pros & Bronze is a stunning metallic duochrome that changes from yellow gold to pink. It’s been ages since OPI stunned us with a good duochrome and I love this! It kinda looks like a firefly to me, gleaming effortlessly.

Essie Braziliant

I have to say that Fridays and Saturdays are the most tiring days of the week!! Didn’t eat any meals at all the entire day because I was so busy doing nail services for customers. And time passes really quickly too which is kinda awesome since I’m counting down the days that my boyfriend gets back. I think I didn’t mention this but my boyfriend is currently in China doing his attachment for 6 weeks! 2 more weeks to go and he’ll be back! :D :D

Anyway, do support my selling post! I updated with lots of new loot :) Let me know what you want to see more :D

Photobucket

Essie Braziliant is a coral-red duochrome with very fine silver and red shimmer. Very bright and obnoxious!! My pinky looks damn out of shape :( someone filed it too short! (my nails were given to other people for training and such!)

Beadstreet: Michelle Nail Color Swatches & Review

You can get these Michelle Nail Colors from Beadstreet at Cineleisure, 2nd floor! :) These are 2 for $4. I’m actually very tempted to go back there and get more colours because the quality is really good. They’re so worth your money! Compared to other brands such as The Face Shop, TFS is a rip-off for their polishes. Its slightly more expensive and yet the quality suck. The polish gets gooey when I used it the first time and it ended up clogging the bottle neck, argh! Note to self: Never ever buy TFS polishes, no matter how cheap it is or what promotion they have.

Anyway, they actually use codes to name their polishes so it might get a little confusing!

T72 is a metallic mustard-green foil, kinda like a cousin to Chanel Peridot. 2 coats here. So if you’re looking for an alternative to that, I think this is a great choice! I didn’t say this is a dupe for Peridot :)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Q14 is a cherry red with golden shimmer. I LOVE THIS ONE!!!!! Looks perfect on my skintone! I did two coats here even though I could get away with one, it’s so opaque!!

Photobucket

Photobucket

M32 is what I used for my Scallop Hem Nail Design a few posts back. It’s a periwinkle blue creme. I did 2 coats here.

Photobucket

Photobucket

B24 is like a cross between a neon and a pastel. It’s pretty bright on my nail but it doesn’t dry matte. It’s much more darker than pictured, something like a tangerine.

Photobucket

Photobucket

B55 is an absolute nude colour, no tones on pinks or peaches; just plain nude. Very mannequin nails and very work appropriate! I like that it doesn’t really blend into my skin tone and it kinda stands out on its own :D

Photobucket

Photobucket

M33 is a dark teal creme, very flattering for Fall. I’ve already worn this as a full mani twice so I absolutely love this colour!!

There are absolutely NO STREAKS at all for any of the polishes that I’ve featured here. Such a great bonus, especially when these polishes are made in Singapore. I find it pretty hard to believe that finally a manufacturer in Singapore does nail polish the good quality way. That’s a great method to reap in loyal customers because they definitely sucked me in already. And some of the polishes are opaque in one coat. I love their brushes too, not too big like the OPI one and not too narrow like China Glaze. It’s somewhere in the middle and the brushes spread really wide and covers a good amount of area on the nail!

So which colour did you like best among those that I’ve picked up? Let me know! <3

JulieG Jesse’s Girls Collection: Swatches & Review

Hello guys!! Its been ages since I’ve done a collection swatches and review so I’m glad to do one for Jesse’s Girl! This is indeed a new brand to me and I ordered this collection online as soon as it was available on their website. There’s a big discount for buying the entire collection so I went with that. (USD$25) Shipping was quite fast, I received these in about a week or so.

If you’re unfamiliar with this collection, this was created by JulieG, a beauty guru on Youtube! She has created her own nail polish collection and I think its a pretty good one because there’s something for everyone! I’ve been watching her videos from the start, she’s very cheerful and informative and that’s what I look for when I watch beauty-related videos! You need to check her out if you haven’t! :)

This is her video introducing all her nail polishes if you are interested in knowing more!

All swatches are 2 coats with no top coat. I wished she did more shimmers though because they’re super gorgeous. This collection consists of 2 shimmers and 6 cremes.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Beauty Guru is a dark musky orange and it looks like a baked orange to me! (Not that I’ve eaten or seen one!) I like this one, the oranges I own are mostly brights or neon and its kinda interesting to see a musky one.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Fashion Friday is an gorgeous red-toned purple, very flattering! Its the colour of JulieG’s background when she makes videos when she’s sitting down and doing one of her makeup videos! I believe this is quite an exact match and I like it!

Photobucket

Photobucket

All Things Girly is a red-toned peach. This isn’t one of my top picks for this collection at all because it doesn’t look good against my skin and the formula was horrible! It was streaky and really thick! I guess I had to bring out my Seche Restore if I’m using it next time.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Stiletto is a light taupe with subtle silver shimmer. It kinda looks something in between purple and grey. A very office appropriate colour and a very unique one at that! I’ve never seen anything like this colour and I’m glad I own this one now!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Cupcake Frosting is a hot fuchsia, nothing very special actually so I’m gonna just keep this description short and sweet, haha!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Party Dress is a red-toned coral, very beautiful and flattering on my skintone. Love this!! I actually have this as my pedi right now and I love the great pop of colour.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Girls Night Out is a medium cobalt blue, very striking and much darker than pictured. Again, not a very unique polish but I’m surprised that this wasn’t an exact dupe of Barry M Cobalt Blue! I might do a comparison if you guys request :>

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mermaid’s Lagoon is a dark teal with subtle golden-red shimmer. Its more like a sprinkle of fairy dust of some sort in the polish, the shimmer is really pretty and dazzling! My camera kinda freaked out on this colour but I swear this colour is super gorgeous in real life! It is much more greener than pictured, not as turquoise as what the photo depicts.

As a whole, I had no issues with the formula except for All Things Girly. Their brushes are kinda unique, they’re thin, small and short so it kinda makes me go back to the bottle twice for each nail on average to have enough polish for my entire nail!

Well, so what’s your favourite from this collection? My favourites have to be Mermaid’s Lagoon, Fashion Friday and Stiletto! Any requests for comparison, please let me know ;)

China Glaze Papaya Punch

Hey guys! I know I said I’ll be posting up my gelish mani that was done by Kim but Mum took the digital cam to China so I’m stuck with using my iPhone until she gets back the following week :( My DSLR isn’t charged at all so no pics today :( Anyway, I will be clearing out lots of my draft posts so you can still see my long nails :)

I went to town today for Hazel’s flea and I got a couple of polishes. That’s not the best part though. I walked out of Cineleisure and there’s a small booth outside selling lots of nail supplies like fimo canes, huge rhinestones, hexagon glitter, filers, nail polishes etc. The hexagon glitter was only $2.90 with 12 colours so that was a really good deal! I bought a couple of rhinestones and their polishes to try so I’ll feature them here soon! Haha their shop is Beadstreet but their polish is named ‘Michelle’. THAT IS ODD. LOL.

Photobucket

China Glaze Papaya Punch is a bright warm orange. I’m loving the name of this, it is so appropriate!! I have no oranges that bright at all and I’m actually excited to wear this on my toes next! This was rather streaky, I had to do three coats to even it out.

This reminds me of a fruit punch and I think I have a craving for it now!

P.S. The colour is more true to the last picture!

Barry M Tangerine

The Sun is in its full glory today, yippee! Today was kinda calm and quiet, because I get to stay home all alone! Sometimes I like having moments like these, especially when I’m stressed out… oh and I watched Tom & Jerry cartoons a few hours ago and how I wish I was still a kid!! Good times, good times.

Today’s NOTD is yet another beautiful polish from Barry M! :) I am deeply in love with this brand. It has a wide array of colours and the formula and brush is fantastic. Not to mention those quirky, tiny bottles too! I’ve been getting lots of questions on where I get my Barry M and the definite answer is eBay! The seller name is beauty.cosmeticsuk

Photobucket

Barry M Tangerine is a bright orange with golden shimmer. I’ve read other reviews about Barry M and one of them claimed that Barry M’s polishes are always thin and needed 4 coats to be opaque. Not trying to be sarcastic here but… 4 coats?! That’s an exaggeration. I always do 2 coats for my Barry M’s and they never looked better. :>

I’m actually loving what I see here. In terms of the quality of these photos. I’m glad I switched to this digital cam! I apologise for the inconsistency for the photos before because I’ve not gotten the hang of taking swatch pics with that. And the pics of Models Own Becca’s Brown is a far cry from those photos seen here. I might have to retake that, haha!

China Glaze Life Preserver

Hey guys!!!! So I am supposed to revise now but I just finished doing a law paper so I was like ‘Oh heck, I’m done with revising!’ and decided to change my mani because my previous notd does not seem to go well on what I’m going to wear tonight! As usual I hope you’re not surprised that I change my nail colour as fast as how I would change my clothes hahaha!

Photobucket

I’ve not used this one ever since I got it a few months back but I think this colour is so appropriate for Summer! It should have been in the Island Escape collection instead of Electric Pineapple. (yeah, you heard me. I don’t like Electric Pineapple, lol. More on that when I post the swatch up!) Life Preserver is like a dark, muted burnt orange. A very unique shade and this kinda reminds me of smoked salmon. I’m not a fan of salmon, but I like this colour on me! ;)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Anyway, the formula was so thick!!! I find that the entire collection of Anchors Away was thicker than usual… its like the brush took up way too much polish and when I tried to smoothen it out, it drags the polish away which results in balding. :/ I did 1 medium and 1 thick coat because I simply cannot get away with a thin one! I guess I have to thin this one out too.

OPI Y’All Come Back Ya Hear?

Hello nail junkies! I have to give Pink Wednesday a miss today because my house is currently in a mess!!! We’re installing air-cons in three rooms so everything was pushed to one side of a room and covered in plastic! I can’t even do my nails now and it’s currently bare and yellowish, ick!! But I promise a pink mani tomorrow ;) since I think it isn’t Wednesday yet in the US right? Lol.

But don’t worry, luckily I do have a few drafts for such days like this!

Photobucket

OPI Y’All Come Back Ya Hear? is a bright squishy tangerine orange. I love the sorbet finish, it makes the polish look more edible, lol. I think I might pick up the entire line of sorbet finishes from this collection if I ever see them again!

I did 3 coats and as you can see there’s still VNL but not that obvious. Maybe I would try with a white base next time!

It’s currently so noisy in here! Lots of drilling & hacking noises. I think I might have to get out soon to avoid getting a big headache, haha!
