Gelish: Dainty Tiaras with Lace Accent

What’s on Mabelline’s nails? Accent lace design from the recent issue of Nail Max and the other fingers; princess tiaras is inspired by Ying here and here! Pictures don’t do this design justice, it is much more sparkly in real life!!

Photobucket

Used Gelish Vegas Nights and Angel.Pro 3 for the base colours and lined the half-moons with a silver striper from Misa! Also added crystals for each finger; hehe this looks like the crystals are hanging by a thread! The lace design is drawn using acrylic paint!

As we’re (Mabelline is my classmate ^^) starting our attachment next week; this set of nails are so work-appropriate and so dainty-looking!

Gelish: Funky Mix

Again… Another backdated gelish on me!! I had to remove this when I went to my ONS I-Gel workshop on Sunday! (will blog in more details soon!)

Photobucket

This is a design inspired by Nail Bible!

Photobucket

I decided to mix floral and animal print this time and I love the result!! Haha, might seem like a mess but I actually love this ‘chaos’ hahaha! I think I’m still in the phrase of the half-nail thing hahaha I’ve been doing this for the past two manicures!! I used Artistic Colour Gloss With It, Gelish Seafoam and Gelish Desert Sands! The rest of the art is done using acrylic paint and China Glaze Tree Hugger! :)

Beadstreet: Michelle Nail Color Swatches & Review

You can get these Michelle Nail Colors from Beadstreet at Cineleisure, 2nd floor! :) These are 2 for $4. I’m actually very tempted to go back there and get more colours because the quality is really good. They’re so worth your money! Compared to other brands such as The Face Shop, TFS is a rip-off for their polishes. Its slightly more expensive and yet the quality suck. The polish gets gooey when I used it the first time and it ended up clogging the bottle neck, argh! Note to self: Never ever buy TFS polishes, no matter how cheap it is or what promotion they have.

Anyway, they actually use codes to name their polishes so it might get a little confusing!

T72 is a metallic mustard-green foil, kinda like a cousin to Chanel Peridot. 2 coats here. So if you’re looking for an alternative to that, I think this is a great choice! I didn’t say this is a dupe for Peridot :)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Q14 is a cherry red with golden shimmer. I LOVE THIS ONE!!!!! Looks perfect on my skintone! I did two coats here even though I could get away with one, it’s so opaque!!

Photobucket

Photobucket

M32 is what I used for my Scallop Hem Nail Design a few posts back. It’s a periwinkle blue creme. I did 2 coats here.

Photobucket

Photobucket

B24 is like a cross between a neon and a pastel. It’s pretty bright on my nail but it doesn’t dry matte. It’s much more darker than pictured, something like a tangerine.

Photobucket

Photobucket

B55 is an absolute nude colour, no tones on pinks or peaches; just plain nude. Very mannequin nails and very work appropriate! I like that it doesn’t really blend into my skin tone and it kinda stands out on its own :D

Photobucket

Photobucket

M33 is a dark teal creme, very flattering for Fall. I’ve already worn this as a full mani twice so I absolutely love this colour!!

There are absolutely NO STREAKS at all for any of the polishes that I’ve featured here. Such a great bonus, especially when these polishes are made in Singapore. I find it pretty hard to believe that finally a manufacturer in Singapore does nail polish the good quality way. That’s a great method to reap in loyal customers because they definitely sucked me in already. And some of the polishes are opaque in one coat. I love their brushes too, not too big like the OPI one and not too narrow like China Glaze. It’s somewhere in the middle and the brushes spread really wide and covers a good amount of area on the nail!

So which colour did you like best among those that I’ve picked up? Let me know! <3

Pink Cath Kidston Inspired Nail Design

It’s another day of Pink Wednesdays! I just got my PDL (provisional driving license) and my driving lessons start tomorrow morning! I’m so nervous and excited!!! I’ve not read up my final theory book so I don’t know what to expect. I just hope I won’t make any stupid mistakes, haha! Okay enough with the rambling, I’ll just let you feast on the pictures!

Photobucket

Flowers are so in right now and I decided to do one based on Cath Kidston! I switched up the colours a little bit to match today’s theme :)

EDIT: Here’s the video tutorial!

OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy

I couldn’t find this anywhere… be it online or in stores! (well there’s probably stock at departmental stores but I’m not paying $23.55 for a bottle of OPI when I can get it for $10 elsewhere) I couldn’t find a decent swatch of it online and lots of Youtube gurus are raving about it so… I finally saw it at Ministry of Cube at my nearby mall and I got so ecstatic! That day, I wanted to buy Chanel Morning Rose instead but when I went to the counter, the lady said it was sold out. To be honest I was disappointed but then again, I was able to pick up Coney Island Cotton Candy and a couple of OPIs!

Last night, I’ve received my Illamasqua polishes! :D Gonna post swatches up soon, I promise!

Photobucket

OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy is a soft neutral peach. I did 4 coats for this. It was rather streaky and there was bald spots. 3 coats didn’t really cover them up so I did 4 for maximum coverage. I know most of you out there won’t do 4 coats for a polish but the colour really justifies when you reach 4 coats. The 1st coat was very neutral, almost musking the colour of my natural nails which I think it does look chic for office working ladies!

Today is Vesak Day, a public holiday but I’m in school now doing my project with my lovely bunch of poly mates :) (That was supposed to sound sad but it ended up being happy… LOL?)

Have a great Tuesday! Any pink ideas for Pink Wednesdays tomorrow?

Deborah Lippmann Spring 2011: Swatches & Review

Photobucket

Hey guys! I have another spring collection that I’m gonna showcase today! Deborah Lippmann has slowly becoming one of my favourite luxury brand nail polishes! I love that her chunky glitters can be removed effortlessly and also the quality of the polishes. I own about 12 of them and I love every single one of them!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Naked is a beige-y tone nude leaning slightly dark, almost matching my skin tone. It doesn’t really stand out which is great for working ladies or for those who wants to achieve mannequin hands. Personally, I don’t feel Naked is worth the price because it isn’t that unique! There are other nude polishes from other brands at cheaper prices. But if you’re going for quality, then this is the one to pick!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Glitter In The Air… is a pink and blue hexagon glitter with silver smaller pieces suspended in a sheer baby blue polish. I shall quote Alizarine Claws that it looks like contaminated milk. I agree with this one. So interesting and different but yet weird.  It has more blue hexagon glitter than pink from my swatches and the only thing that I do not like about chunky glitters is that some of my nails have concentrated glitters at one area. I have to admit that I bought this polish because of how it looks in its bottle. So magical and it looks like fairy dust! There is still visible nail line when I did 3 coats so maybe a nude polish or a white underneath would make it look better.

Photobucket
A macro shot of Glitter In The Air

All swatches are 3 coats with 1 coat of Seche Vite. Application was fab, no bald spots and no streaking! I know lots of people have issues with Glitter In The Air and other similar glitters from Deborah Lippman but I have no problems with that. I only waited for about a minute or so before applying the next coat. I think doing thin layers is much better for glitters as it dry faster and thus reduce the possibility of dragging the polish!

Overall, I’m biased towards Glitter In The Air just because it looks great in the bottle. Its either you hate it or you love it. I think it will look good with short nails because personally I don’t like seeing my visible nail line but its impossible to get a opaque shade for this. I’d probably layer Glitter In The Air over blue or pink so that the glitters in the polish will stand out.

Side tracking a little, I’ve no idea how why my codes doesn’t show up correctly on my sidebar. I used the text widget to try and add in Google Friend Connect so its easier for people to follow my blog but my codes ended up jumbled and the image doesn’t show! :( I tried following the steps here: http://www.expand2web.com/blog/friend-connect-wordpress/ but it still doesn’t work. Is my current theme the problem? :/

Seche Rose

Photobucket

I am so into nudes and pales lately! I find myself grabbing Seche Rose instead of other ‘loud’ colours! Seche Rose is a milky beige colour, and what’s pictured is 4 coats. I know… too many coats for a polish but I don’t mind. I could leave it at 2 coats but it was streaky and brush strokes can be clearly seen because the polish is sooo sheer! Despite using 4 coats, I don’t have full coverage ;( But what I like is the drying time, its super fast!

My pictures are a little off, Seche Rose is leaning more towards milky beige with yellow undertone! So obviously from the pictures, I cut off my nails last night. It was so hard to type on my phone and on the keyboard and doing simple things like opening a can!

Photobucket

I think the main reason for picking out a nude colour is because I’m pretty down. I am fedup with Nailvibe. Not sure whether I should be mad at Singpost or Nailvibe. But whatever. I paid for the polishes I ordered last Monday and they promised to ship out my item on Thursday. However, they shipped it out on Friday instead. I have no problems with that but today is already Thursday and there’s still no sign of my package!!!!! ARGH. I emailed them but they said it could be delayed by Singpost so I’m not really sure on who to blame. Oh well… I just hope the package reaches me safety with no breakage!

Photobucket

Anyway… just an update of my hammies. They’re not doing well ;( I just realised today that Wanton has a swollen eye. Which leaves me with 2 injured hamsters. I can never put them back together again. And both of them slimmed down ALOT ever since I separated them. Definitely not a good sign.

CND The Look Spring/Summer 2011: Perfectly Bare & Perfectly Bare Shimmer Swatches and Review

Photobucket

Phew… what a long title this is! So I got my Transdesign package in the mail from Hazel which I purchased a couple of the OPI Designer Series, a big bottle of Seche Restore, Seche Rose and of cause, CND The Look for Spring/Summer 2011! The sad thing is…. one of my OPI Designer series got broken in the mail!!!! Goodbye OPI DS Classic :( Look at the hot mess, booooooo

CND The Look for Spring/Summer 2011 features 2 nail lacquers in nude pearly shades. ‘S-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-. It may all be a dream. Hues are fragile, with a delicate sheen to match. Wear them like a whisper as the summer shadows grow long’. Alot of nail polish companies are featuring light nude shades for Spring 2011 , it seems like mannequin hands are the rage right now! Deborah Lippmann (Naked), OPI (San-tan-tonio) and Misa (9 to 5 collection) did include nudes in their collections too.

Perfectly Bare is a flesh toned nude leaning slightly towards pink.

Perfectly Bare Shimmer is a nude pearl peachy shade with specks of silver glitter. It has a slight duochrome too, which flashes pink.

Obviously the colours is not standing out because this is an effect polish. Lol, don’t comment on my yellow nails please >;(

Photobucket

Photobucket

I love Perfectly Bare on my skintone. Its a perfect sandy nude pink colour, perfect for working ladies! (Hehe I’m wearing this to work today!)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I honestly thought that Perfectly Bare Shimmer  was going to make the overall mani worst but  I think I’m 50/50 on this one. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. It does make a teeny weeny bit of difference but not much. I prefer this in creme, not shimmer. I did one coat of Perfectly Bare Shimmer over Perfectly Bare.

I honestly think CND is a little bit overpriced. It cost about USD5 for a CND polish and USD5.75 for an OPI polish. Even though OPI is more expensive, the quantity in the bottle is so much more, 15ml for OPI and only 9.8ml for CND. Anyway, overall I really love Perfectly Bare but just not its counterpart; Perfectly Bare Shimmer. But you can’t get one or the other without buying the set… … … (I think!)

OPI Canberra’t Without You

Photobucket

I have no idea how to pronounce the name of this polish. Do I have to emphasis while saying the first word??? Anyway I’m having a nerve wrecking moment now… results are going to be out in a few minutes!!!!! I am excited and nervous and I keep refreshing my email like a luninatic (hahahaha from Guther from ‘Shake It Up’)

Anyway today’s mani is OPI Canberra’t Without You. It is a nude colour with a tinge of peach in it and I think this is the most suitable for my skintone. I like this nude colour its one of my first nudes and first OPIs (you can see I used up like one quarter of the polish!) You can roughly tell how long this polish stayed with me because I started my nail polish obsession since November 2009.

So on to the pictures!

OPI San Tan-tonio

Photobucket

Hello today’s notd is OPI San Tan-tonio from the Texas collection! This is a really pretty sand beige colour and I really like it. Its a bold nude shade and great for office wear! I love nudes like this, it gives a edgy feel to it instead of normal bright nudes.

On to the pictures!
