A Touch Of Bling!!

It’s a lovely day today… because it’s the 26th <3 Happy 11th month anniversary to my boyfriend ;) He has always stuck with me on my nail polish ventures, especially when I go to fleas to buy polishes and he stands around and picking up polishes and asking me what colour it is hahahaha and he was also absolutely fascinated about the shatter polishes! He always tells me which colour looks good on me and most of the time he was absolutely right. Hehe he’s like my nail buddy because whenever I have a new colour on… I take a photo of it and whatsapp him ;)

Anyway, I love wearing darker shades when my nails are short so here’s another dark colour that I want to show you ;) OPI Light My Sapphire has been sitting on my untried list for a very very long time and I’m glad I’ve finally used it.

Photobucket

OPI Light My Sapphire is a vampy dark blue with very fine silver microshimmer. It’s kinda like a half-frost and half-shimmer dark blue, because it looks frosty on my nail but yet it does have shimmer in it. I added 2 coats of China Glaze Medallion as an accent nail and it looks pretty good to me! Love how the gold complements the dark blue!!

My Seche Vite topcoat is bubbling up on this mani if you look closely… I think I might wanna change my topcoat to Poshe once I’m done using it. I’m kinda freaked out on the SV fact on pregnant ladies… eeek! I wouldn’t want that to happen to me in the future. >:(

Essie Fair Game

Hello! Sorry for the late postings these days, I’ve been busy with school work! Anyway I have exciting news to share! The Halloween Horrors team contacted me and said I was shortlisted from my auditions! (WOOHOOOO!!!) so I need to attend a briefing tomorrow and a training camp next weekend in order to be on the scare actors team! I’m already looking forward for this year’s Halloween :D

They actually sent me an email saying I was not selected the day before and I was feeling kinda bummed out. They apologized for the error the day after and voila… I’m IN!!!! :D

Lol ok sorry for the long intro, I get too hyped up at times! :P

Photobucket

Essie Fair Game is a frosty gunmetal blue-grey with silver shimmer. Frost polishes are my least favorite but I don’t know why I bought this but I’m loving it! The brush strokes wasn’t that visible on the nail which I’m really surprised at because frosty polishes always have this poison factor that most of us dislike.

Anyway I really like the colour of this one and how it looks on me! I did 2 coats here and application was a breeze. But exactly 12 hours later, I had an enormous chip at my thumb and subsequently on my ring finger as well. I guess Essie doesn’t last a day on me :/ how I wish the formula was as good as the colour!

I need to go finish up my tutorials now because I need to study for an important test this coming Tuesday! ;) Goodnight!

Illamasqua Spring/Summer 2011: Purity and Bacterium Swatches & Review

Good evening!! I just completed 2 tutorials and revised abit for my test so I guess I need a break so here I am!! ;)

Today I have for you 2 polishes from Illamasqua Toxic Nature collection for Spring/Summer 2011! I managed to buy these because of a spree held by 2 wonderful people, Jo and Hydaia from Miss-Jo Spree! Furthermore, there was a 20% discount on all items which was a great deal because I saved quite abit on money! I picked up the nail polish duo because they’re much cheaper compared to buying them individually and I was simply lured to Bacterium and got the duo which had Purity in it too. (£21.00 for 2 polishes in the duo compared to £13.50 individually)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Bacterium is a taupe brown frost with blue silvery iridescent shimmer, 2 coats. I am not in love with the frost finish because frost doesn’t really work on my nails! It’s an ugly pretty colour… I still can’t decide which catergory I’m gonna place this in!

Purity is a type of peach that isn’t a pastel and not under brights, it’s something in between, 2 coats. It is leaning slightly more to pink. This brings out the tan in my hands which I really like!

Photobucket

The application on these were not too bad, in fact they are marvelous! Purity was opaque in 1 coat, I gotta say I am very impressed! Bacterium was on the thin side and slightly watery. I think I might do a third coat if I do wear Bacterium out the next time.

OPI Teal The Cows Come Home + Orly Prisma Gloss Gold

Hello lovelies! :) it’s Thursday which means it’s only a day till the weekends! I bet there’s lots of people counting down with me too!

Anyway… I failed my basic driving evaluation by one mark! ;( I need to get 63 and above to be considered a pass! That’s 90%! Sigh… It means I have to go down to the driving centre again next week to take the evaluation again! :/ I’m so not looking forward to it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I got OPI Teal The Cows Come Home a few months back and I didn’t think of using it until today! Its a beautiful light blue frost with silver shimmer! I did 2 coats of polish and added 2 coats of Orly Prisma Gloss Gold for more shine!

I have an exciting post lined up for you all tomorrow~ :) Stay tuned!

Sinful Colors Shausha and Sinful Colors Red Diamond: Swatches & Review

Good morning! Prettyseaeagle aka Eileen requested for swatches for all of my Sinful Colors polishes! I got those awhile back from a spree from Cherryculture and I’m guilty again of not using them. So here’s the perfect chance! :D Since I have 10 Sinful Colors polishes, I’m gonna take two steps at a time by showing you guys 2 different polishes! All swatches are 2 coats with no topcoat.

First up… Sinful Colors Shausha is a purple frost with golden shimmer! The golden shimmer shined through the purple beautifully. I can never expect how purple and gold could go so well together. I just don’t like the visible brush strokes part though. :/ besides that, this is my favourite Sinful from the others that I’ve purchased. It does not appear as dark as it would on the bottle with 2 coats so I’d suggest 3-4 coats for this.

Here’s a close up to see more detail!

Sinful Colors Red Diamond is a glass-flecked red with a tinge of coral with silver shimmer. It’s REALLY SHINY! When the light hits the polish, there’s a subtle purple tint thats glowing from it! G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. I definitely didn’t catch that in the bottle so what a surprise!

Overall, I had a tough time swatching Shausha because of the visible brush strokes. Just be careful with that! The brushes also pick up more polish than it’s supposed to, but otherwise it’s okay. Just remember to swipe the brush at the neck before applying! Also, these are really creamy and I had a breeze applying these. Drying time was fine too, I cannot find a difference between these compared to the other brands (e.g. China Glaze) I wonder why Sinful Colors isn’t getting all the publicity as China Glaze. It cost less than CG per bottle and I think these polishes’ quality are able to match up to CG!

That’s all for today ;) Look out for my next Sinful Colors swatch post!

P.S. Which ones would you want me to swatch first from Sinful? Head over to my Polish Stash and leave a comment :D

OPI Smoki’n In Havana

Hello everyone, happy Saturday! I promised myself that I wouldn’t change my mani from yesterday’s but I got too bored last night that I have to switch it up! Today I have a special polish and its OPI Smoki’n In Havana! This is previously discontinued from OPI and OPI brought it back with other discontinued polishes because of 200,000 likes on her facebook page. (That’s what I can remember, I think) I purchased this about a month ago from Transdesign and I didn’t like it when I got it in my hands. It doesn’t look that awesome in the bottle but it’s so gorgeous on the nail!!

Photobucket

OPI Smoki’n In Havana is a bronzed red with a tint of brown and flooded with golden shimmer. YES, I DO MEAN FLOODED. There’s minimal visible brush strokes on this one but not that noticeable! I feel like this polish is a frost and a shimmer so its kinda cool. Shimmers are my favourite finish and I love this!!!! <3 This deserve a heart because I once thought this was just a meh polish and it turned out great! I’m glad I got this… better get yours now before it becomes discontinued again! I couldn’t find a swatch for this polish through Google before I purchased, so I hope this post helps those who want to get yours ;)

(ah sorry, my camera cannot capture the golden shimmer!)

I am seriously dreading work today. I am so tired and grouchy. And I can’t believe my pay for March just got in a couple of days ago. I mean, its the middle of April already!! :(

China Glaze Jitterbug + Deborah Lippmann Today Was A Fairytale

Hey guys! It’s been raining at abnormal hours in Singapore recently and I hate it. As much as I love the rain when I’m sleeping in, its so annoying when it rains when I want to take a photo of my nail polish swatch or when I’m heading out! It irks me when my shoes get wet :/

Photobucket

Anyway, I have a fun layered mani today and I thought of this combo because I am dying to use Deborah Lippmann Today Was A Fairytale. It is said to contain Virgin Diamond Powder which I have no idea what’s the benefit of it. Apparently, Virgin Diamond Powder is good stuff, I googled and it cost $2/carat. (LOL!) Google doesn’t seem to tell me the benefits of this powder though. Ok back to the topic… I used 2 coats of China Glaze Jitterbug and 1 coat of Deborah Lippmann Today Was A Fairytale.

For those who wants to know where I got my Deborah Lippmanns from, the answer is eBay! Makeupboutique is a great place to shop! She has a whole wide range of DL to choose from! Here’s the link: http://stores.ebay.com.sg/makeupboutique they don’t have any items listed for now because they’re currently under maintenance for 10 days! So keep checking back the site!

Photobucket

I’ve seen swatches of Today Was A Fairytale and I didn’t like the look of it being swatched alone so thus, I’ve decided to layer it over Jitterbug instead. I must say I like the look of the polishes layered together so yay! Does anyone have any weird combi that you want me to try out? ;D Just leave a comment!

Photobucket

Have an awesome Friday!!!! I’m staying in tonight just to catch up on my relaxing time hehe. I’m not looking forward to the weekends because I will be working ;( And then school starts on Monday! *excited* I’m always excited on the first week of school and after that will be meh. I think the same goes to everybody hahaha

EDIT: Here’s my impromptu outfit of the day photo!

Chanel Spring 2011 Le Vernis: Black Pearl & Pearl Drop

Photobucket

Hey guys! Today I am going to do a review on the latest Chanel’s nail polishes; Black Pearl and Pearl Drop. I know I’m missing Peche Necree but I don’t know whether I want to purchase that so we’ll see! Chanel nail polishes retail for $36 and I think these wasn’t limited edition so if you still haven’t get your hands on them, go get it! I’m just worried for my wallet… Luxury nail polishes are burning a huge hole in them.

With flash. My camera wasn’t picking up the teal reflex :(

I got Black Pearl 2 weeks ago but I didn’t get to swatch it until today. What attracted me most to this polish is that it is a gunmental colour that flashes teal, gray and blue. I love that its like a chameleon. Even though I’m not loving the frost finish and the visible brush strokes, I’m loving the colour ALOT. I feel like a rocker chick with this on!

I finally decided to get Pearl Drop because I think these two polishes deserve to be together! I literally squealed when I place them side by side on my table. LOVE THEM!!!!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Pearl Drop is an off-white cream colour with flashes of gold in them. Similar like Black Pearl, it has a frost finish with visible brush strokes! But I’m sure with practice, those visible brush strokes wouldn’t be standing in your way. I have a love-hate relationship with this… It looks so pretty in the bottle until it gets on my fingernails… LOBSTER HANDS ALERT!!!! I can picture this would look good on fair-skinned women! This colour seems so suitable for office because it looks so elegant and classy.

Application was flawless for both polishes. They tend to be sheer for the first coat but completely opaque in the second. The visible brush strokes is even more prominent in Pearl Drop so you have to be really careful during application! I love Black Pearl more than Pearl Drop because Pearl Drop doesn’t really compliment my skin tone and nails. But currently, this is my favourite pearl colour among my other ones!

Thanks for looking! :)

We all love manicures, don’t we?

I ended work early and decided to go for a manicure session! I haven’t pampered myself for a manicure ever since last August! I always go for a manicure when I want to have my nails trimmed and shaped because I can’t do a perfect square tips for my nails. As you can see from the pictures compared to my previous, my nail length was shortened quite alot!! I was surprised I managed to keep them so long.

I went to Far East Plaza, Level 4 Nail Status for my express mani. There’s a student discount so I only paid $10.80! Oh and it was also the first time that my nails were cut in the salon using a scissors. YES, S-C-I-S-S-O-R-S. I think that was really weird. But the lady who attended to me was friendly and she shaped my nails so nicely that I forgave her for cutting my nails with a pair of scissors.

I chose OPI The Show Must Go On from the Burlesque collection. I wondered why I never pick this polish up. I love it!!!! Even one of my friends said that this color looks good on me. Hehe I think I might order a bottle from Transdesign.

My friends came over today and I painted all their nails! 3 pairs of hands! I was a little bit shaky but… practice makes perfect right?

Photobucket
This was 2 coats of Orly Prisma Gloss Silver and 1 coat of Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday on the ring finger.

Photobucket
I love this combination.

Photobucket
Hurray for accent nails!

Photobucket
This was 2 coats of Rimmel Azure and 1 coat of L.A. Girl Supernova. My friend has this quirky taste of mixing nail polishes together that I’ve never thought of. This looks really beautiful and abstract. Azure has a frosty like finish but with Supernova layered on top, it becomes like a rainbow confetti.

Photobucket

I have no pictures of the third pair of hands because it was taken using my friend’s phone! Once I have it, I’ll edit the post!

Because of all the painting and in contact with nail polish remover, my newly-manicured fingernails were all smudged and lots of cotton was sticking out under my nail tips. I removed them just now and painted them OPI DS Mystery.

Photobucket
As cool as the name sounds, I am disappointed with this polish.

Photobucket
There was no holographic whatsoever and I can’t tell whether its black or purple. The gold glitters don’t stand out from the polish at all. It seemed like they were musked underneath all that darkness.

Photobucket
Who knows…. maybe they might look interesting with sunlight? But I wouldn’t recommend this polish if you’re expecting a holographic one from the OPI Designer Series. This looks so boring on the nail. Nothing pretty, nothing surprising. It just looks so muddy on my nails. But on the other hand, for those who love dark colours; this is something for you. Its not as a harsh as a black polish but it is sooooo dark that it looks almost black.

Photobucket
I’ll update more pics if I do take them under the sunlight.

But for now… its 1.42AM. Time to cuddle in!

Backdated Zoya Swatches

Hello everyone! I’ve decided to post some of Zoya swatches!

Adina. Lovely name, lovely polish! I love duochromes like this and this is a winner! Application was not a problem and this was 2 coats!

Nidhi. One of my most favorite reds! I love that it has gold particles in the bottle and the formula was again perfect! The bad thing is that the golden particles was not obvious on the nails after application.

Ivanka. It glitters so much that I can’t stop looking at it! It feels like I have trees on my nails covered with lots of pixie dust! This is truly magical! No problems with the formula and this was 2 coats!

Cheryl. Sad to say but… I dislike this polish!! The colour is awful… I’ve no idea why I bought this in the first place! It doesn’t compliment my skintone and it makes it even duller. I felt that I had rotten food on my nails the entire time! It looks like copper-reddish-maroon and feels metallic to me! Formula was the same as the other Zoyas mentioned.
