Orly Royal Velvet

Last night was pretty exciting for Singapore, most of us were glued to the tv because of our 7th President election results! Even though I am still considered a minor and not allowed to vote, I was very interested in this whole thing. Dr Tony Tan emerged as our President by winning 35% of the votes. I’m kinda eternally voting for Dr Tan Cheng Bok who had 34% of the votes! Such a close fight!!

Also, it was raining the whole day yesterday so it was pretty chilly. Even switching on the fan sent me shivers, lol!

Anyway enough of the presidency talk, let’s get down to nail business!

Orly Royal Velvet is a dark plum with a light blue duochrome. This is an oddball from the Precious collection 2011. My sole intention in getting the whole collection was for this lovely shade. I love how the light blue particles is showing up against the dark base colour!

I had no issues or problems with the formula, this was an exception from the rest of the collection. (the others from the collection was really horrible!)

Happy 46th Birthday, Singapore!!

Today’s is 9th August and its the birthday of my home country! :) I didn’t draw any crescent moon or 5 stars on my mani, I kept it simple by doing a side-swipe of red and white.

Photobucket

I am a big fail… I tried to do a plait design on my ring finger as an accent nail and after I’m done with it and showed it to my boyfriend, he asked me why did I paint England’s flag on my middle nail. LOL…. I AM SUCH A FAILURE. When I was drawing it… I didn’t even have England on my mind lol.

Haha I did a red shatter on my middle finger on my right hand and I think it looks so much appropriate! I’m such a muddle-head, geez! :/

Anyway for some fun, here are my top 10 reasons on why I love Singapore!!

1. I can walk along the streets of Singapore way past midnight without being afraid of getting robbed. Our safety in this country is excellent!
2. We have the biggest variety of local food available at the cheapest prices! From Hainanese Chicken Rice to Laksa to Rojak to Lor Mee to Mee Siam to Roti Prata… we have it all from different races!
3. A conversation by Singaporeans can have a mix of English, Singlish, Chinese, Malay and other dialects such as Hokkien and Cantonese! We are so versatile at our languages!
4. Our corruption and crime rates are so low.
5. No worries about earthquakes, volcano eruptions, tsunami etc.
6. Our Changi International Airport is one of the best around the world! Since its opening in 1981, our airport has won over 360 awards for being the best in cleanliness and customer service!
7. We drink our own pee. That’s right… we have this NEWater system that takes water from our drains and pipes and turns ‘dirty’ water into ‘clean’ ones for our consumption.
8. You will never get cheated or over charged in our cabs. EVER.
9. WE LOVE DURIANS!!!!
10. Haha… last one… we love complaining! LOL

I’m kinda sad that its our President S.R. Nathan last national day parade with us. He has been with us for 11 long years :) I’m currently watching the NDP now so see yaaaa all :)

even Google celebrated it with us :D

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY, SINGAPORE!!!!

Orly Star Of Bombay

I’m still rushing my report to be handed up tomorrow so this post is gonna be a short one! :) I had a long day in school today… almost 12 hours! :/ Thank goodness for a 1PM class tomorrow :P

Photobucket

Orly Star Of Bombay is a dark blue-black with blue shimmer. Honestly I couldn’t catch any shimmer on the nail after putting it on… it seemed almost black. But I like how the bottle shot is showing me otherwise, that should be what I’m seeing on my nails instead!

Application was so smooth, I love how it flowed on my nail like butter! I’d love Orly to change their new polishes’ formula to those from the past. The new collections were dreadful in terms of application and formula. Yes… I am talking about the Precious collection that came out earlier this year! I don’t think I will be getting my hands on Orly’s new collections anymore but I will definitely source for staple colours from their older collections.

Thanks for dropping by! I have a nail art design for tomorrow, stay tuned!

CND Urban Oasis V.S. Orly Sapphire Silk

Another comparison! I know, I must be on a roll. Hahaha!

Sorry for the lack of updates and for posting 2 comparisons in a row. I woke up at 4.30AM to study for my paper and I’ve officially gone crazy. I need sleep.

Photobucket

CND Urban Oasis is a dark teal creme leaning more towards green while Orly Sapphire Silk is a teal but has more blue in it than green. Again, these aren’t dupes at all. Both colours are really pretty. I think that Urban Oasis will look good on people with darker skin tones and Sapphire Silk on fairer skin tones.

Formula wise, I prefer CND. CND is so underrated!! Lovely formula, lovely bottle. I almost did a one coat on Urban Oasis but I did two anyway because that’s what I always do. And I love CND’s brush. It isn’t as wide as OPI or as thin as China Glaze but its somewhere in the middle. I like that. Again… I don’t think I have to mention again how irritable Orly’s formula is. I just cannot seem to make it work on a full mani. :(

Photobucket

I didn’t have the time to be on my laptop to edit and upload my pics on yesterday’s mani! :( but I promise it will be up very soon! :D

OPI Mermaid’s Tears V.S. Orly Ancient Jade

Hey all! I just finished one paper, I have 4 more to go! I may be lacking in updates this week so please bear with me! :>

Anyway, I have another comparison for you guys! I got the whole collection of Orly Precious and a couple of colours are very similar to the ones I have in my stash! I think there’s already alot of comparison swatches for these two floating in the net but I just want to give my two cents worth on these.

Photobucket

OPI Mermaid’s Tears is much more blue, murky and darker compared with Orly Ancient Jade while the latter is leaning more to the minty side and it is a touch brighter. Definitely not dupes but the differences are not noticeable (refer to last picture) unless you look closely (refer to second picture) .

Regarding the formula, I prefer OPI. Reason being, this collection of Orly really made me crazy. No… not the good type of crazy. The formula for Orly’s were really very very thick. I tried to thin them out by using Seche Restore but no matter how many drops I put in and roll them, the consistency is still the same. I hate to say this but, Orly is going to be in my ‘bad book of polish’ (nah, I don’t have this book; it’s more of a mental note) . The formula isn’t right, and the brush is picking up way too much polish. Sigh… I don’t see anyone giving a bad review on Orly but why does formula issues happen to me?? ;(

Hot Pink Half Zebra Half Leopard Print Nail Design

Good morning everyone! I’m up early today and I’m going for my driving lessons! I’ll be stuck here from 9.20AM to 1.10PM because I’ll be having my practice theory and evaluation test after my practical lessons! Best of luck to me, lol!

This mani is somehow a second version of the Half-Moon Leopard & Zebra Nail Design that I posted a few weeks ago!

Notice the difference between 2 sets of nails? I alternated the colours of OPI Glitzerland and China Glaze Pelican Grey. I love doing mani’s like this with a certain theme to it. Kinda edgy and really fun! :’D So on my right its gold on index, middle and ring finger while grey is on the thumb and pinkie. The same goes for my left hand, only that the colours was switched. I chose Orly Fancy Fuchsia as the leopard print because I want it to stand out (which I think it did!!!!) Accent nail on my ring fingers, obviously, for both hands I used a different glitter on them because the base colour was different. China Glaze Medallion on left and China Glaze Techno on my right. I recently purchased these two glitter polishes from Smoochiezz’s showroom and I’m so excited to use it here. I rarely use glitter because they are pretty to look at but not fun at all when I’m removing it :<

My fingers still look awkward while holding the bottle on my right. I wonder how other nail bloggers photograph their right hand without it looking clumsy, lol!

OPI Teal The Cows Come Home + Orly Prisma Gloss Gold

Hello lovelies! :) it’s Thursday which means it’s only a day till the weekends! I bet there’s lots of people counting down with me too!

Anyway… I failed my basic driving evaluation by one mark! ;( I need to get 63 and above to be considered a pass! That’s 90%! Sigh… It means I have to go down to the driving centre again next week to take the evaluation again! :/ I’m so not looking forward to it.

Photobucket

I got OPI Teal The Cows Come Home a few months back and I didn’t think of using it until today! Its a beautiful light blue frost with silver shimmer! I did 2 coats of polish and added 2 coats of Orly Prisma Gloss Gold for more shine!

I have an exciting post lined up for you all tomorrow~ :) Stay tuned!

Orly Prince Charming

About the Halloween auditions… it’s a disaster! I was so nervous before going inside the audition room that I couldn’t even focus. I am supposed to choose a role from the different options given (e.g. doll, lunatic, beast etc) and then act them out to a panel of judges in the room. So scary!!!! I basically acted like I was really mad. I was laughing in one second and then crying the next… and then I started doing my death stare, LOL.

The worst part is that the whole footage of me acting and the interview is being filmed!!! (NOOOOOO….) They gave me a couple more scenarios, like how to act if I’m a Ghost Beauty Queen (whaaatt?!) or a Ghost Clown. I think I did pretty badly… I might not even get through :(

Photobucket

Anyway, I do have alot of posts scheduled when I’m away for diving this weekend, so don’t worry about me being MIA! I do hope the posts does go up on the appointed timings. Today I have for you… Orly Prince Charming! It is a milk chocolate brown, not that unique but I like it because it goes really well with my skin tone! I used 3 coats of this for maximum coverage.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Orly polishes tend to be bloopy for me when I apply the second coat, so that explains the thick application!

Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe

Woke up and it’s raining! I love the feeling of waking up when it’s raining… it feels so cooling! I’m going to head out soon with my lovely friends to the Discovery Centre today because we have free passes!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Today’s polish is currently my favourite green shimmer polish! Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe is a emerald green with blue-green shimmer! I love how jam-packed the shimmers are! This polish came out last year from their holiday collection and this one immediately caught my eye. I remembered that I put this one on upon receiving it! I did 3 coats for maximum coverage :)

Photobucket

Sigh… I really hate it when my nail tips can be seen ;(

Look out for my next post! ;)

Princess Pink Nail Design

It’s Pink Wednesday again today! I’m terribly sorry for my forgetfulness last week but I do have something lined up for today! I have another nail design to show you! (I think I’m bombarding my site with lots of nail art posts recently)

My favorite Mean Girl is Karen Smith. She’s adorable in her cute way and I love the scene when she says her breasts can tell when it’s going to rain. Hahahahaha!!!

Photobucket

I actually wanted to do a gradation nail design but I ended up sponging on the tips silver and then added rhinestones!

Photobucket

The rhinestones are all pretty random. I like the one at my thumb best because it’s like a sparkly flower! :D

This is a really simple design, took me less than 20 mins :)
