Red Leopard Print on Pink Base

This is what I did yesterday for Xue Na! Lol her bag was a rainbow leopard print so this goes to show how much she really love leopards, haha! She requested for a red leopard print on pink :)

Her nails are really beautiful, with long nail beds and slender fingers. But unfortunately some of her nails broke, if not it would be a very perfect picture!

Photobucket

I used MAC Ice Cream Cake as chosen by her and I really dislike the formula on this one. Have not used it ever since I swatched it for my blog and it has become more streaky and goopy as ever! :(  I apologise for the lighting in these photos, because my camera doesn’t work well in the night!

Xue Na told me that she loved it and I was so over the moon!!!! :D This is mainly the reason why I want to do nails for people :)

MAC Obey Me & Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow

Happy Deepavali everyone!! To celebrate the occasion, here’s what I have on my nails today!! :)

Photobucket

Photobucket

MAC Obey Me is one of the limited edition polishes from the Wonder Woman collection. This was indeed one of my first MAC polishes because I feel so attracted to the packaging! I’ve did swatches of these in the past but they weren’t up to standard so here’s my swatch again :)

And since I wasn’t satisfied with just a red creme on my nails, I added a touch of glam!

I love how Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow complements the red! It kinda makes the red a touch richer and brighter, almost reaching the coral spectrum.

Have a lovely day today!

Polish Party @ Smoochiezz!: Essie Swatches

Hello everyone! I’ve been getting lots of questions on where I buy my polishes and where’s the best deals in Singapore for polishes and I’m very proud to announce that ever since Smoochiezz imported her polishes from the States, I get most of my polishes from her! ^^

Hazel aka Smoochiezz started off as a spree organiser and currently she has over 60 ongoing sprees at her website! Yep… you name the spree, she has it! Her spree ranges from Taiwan to Korean to UK and the States! That’s really awesome! I am one of her loyal spree-ers because firstly, she never gets my orders wrong and secondly, I always get updated mails on when is my stuff arriving and most importantly, her calculations are always displayed clearly on her excel spreadsheet so you know how much you are actually paying for the shipping charges etc.

Anyway, despite holding over 60+ sprees on her LJ, she has a showroom at Jurong East and it is loaded full with cosmetic goodies, apparels, and nail polishes! She carries lots of famous drugstore brand names from the States which are very difficult to find in Singapore. What’s more, she is selling them at very cheap prices. Brands such as E.L.F, NYX, MAC, Estee Lauder, Coastal Scents etc are currently avaliable in her showroom! :)

But since I’m not a makeup maniac, I always get drawn to her lacquer corner in her showroom! Here’s the list of brands that she currently has… there’s OPI, Essie, China Glaze, Poshe and Seche Vite!

In case you’re interested… here’s the price list!

OPI Cremes – $9
OPI Shimmers/Glitters – $10
OPI Shatters – $10
OPI Nail Envy – $15
OPI Designer Series – $15
China Glaze – $7
China Glaze Crackles – $8
Essie – $9
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat – $10
Seche Vite Clear Base Coat – $8

Alright, enough with the words… let’s get on to the swatches! All swatches are 2 coats with no top coat.

Photobucket

Photobucket

St. Lucia Lilac is a very pale pastel lilac. It is showing up more blue and darker, I apologise for that! My camera doesn’t seemed to be working correctly with the colour spectrum on that day, lol.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Honey Bun is a refreshing shade for me, I’ve never seen anything like this! It looks like a burnt cranberry with lots of golden sparkles!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Pansy is a bright medium blue-toned carnation pink. The first picture is more true to this colour. I think my camera freaked out the second time it sensed the pink… maybe it was too mesmerising, lol!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Tangerine… bright, cherry and coral; what’s not to like?? Obviously this is my favourite from the five, and I absolute love how obnoxiously bright this is. Perfect for summer and for the toes ;)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Aruba Blue. I really have no idea how to describe this colour. Absolutely gorgeous…. my camera really captured this colour well. I love how reflective this polish is!!! This one makes me feel like I’m looking at the naked sky at midnight, reminds me of the times I had during diving :)

Remember me saying that I don’t like Essie before?? After swatching these polishes, I’m glad to say I’m in love with Essie! The formulae was top notch, there was no streaking or bald spots! I think my bottle of Mesmerize is a bad child which made me kinda boycott Essie because of it. :<

Anyway, I suggest you head down to her showroom to view! I promise you that it won’t be a wasted trip! ;) But please bring lots of cash though! They only accept cash! (unless you have your ibanking device, bring it along too!)

OPI Blue Shatter Swatches & Review

Hey guys!! Can you believe I’m watching ‘That’s So Raven’ again?? Good old times!! I found a whole list of the show’s episodes on someone’s Youtube channel and I’ve been hooked ever since last night!

Today’s feature are the Blue Shatters!!!! I’ve been playing with these lil ones ever since I’ve gotten them from PNC Traders!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Turquoise Shatter over MAC Spirit of Truth. This one has the best shimmer out of the 2 shatters! I wish OPI did come out with actual polish shades like these that don’t shatter. That would be amazing!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Navy Shatter over China Glaze Something Sweet is one of my favourites in this collection! It crackled the best out of the three and I’m in loveeeee <3

Photobucket

Photobucket

Blue Shatter over China Glaze Lemon Fizz. It didn’t crack really well for my first try because I didn’t really let the polish dry before putting the shatter on, my bad! Look at my pinky… it only shattered once LOL

Photobucket

Photobucket

So I’ve tried it again and this time the shatter pattern is much more pretty! Here’s Blue Shatter over OPI Canberra’t Without You. The colour for Blue Shatter is really off here… its more of a slate blue with more blue in it lol.

All the shatters in this collection shattered really evenly, especially Navy. Maybe it’s because its a creme finish. Anyway, OPI has definitely improved its shatter formulae because the polish is slightly thinner and makes it a joy to work with! And I do realised that the polish doesn’t clog up the neck of the bottle like Black Shatter, which is a disaster in my opinion. I love the newer shatters so much better! I don’t really go near my bottle of Black Shatter anymore because it is so difficult getting polish out from the brush! Lots of thick gooey dried out polish ended up on my nails on my last try :/

MAC Quite Cute Spring 2011 Collection: Nail Lacquers Swatches, Comparisons & Review

Photobucket

I wasn’t even expecting MAC’s Spring 2011 collection at my local MAC counter so early! 3 days ago, I popped by Tangs Plaza and was surprised that the whole collection was on display. So as usual, I got sucked into buying all the nail polishes. Pastels are one of my weakness in nail polishes and since these are limited edition, it was a perfect excuse to buy them!

Photobucket
From left: Ice Cream Cake, Little Girl Type, Mischievous Mint

I was kinda disappointed because this is a Quite Cute collection but the packaging wasn’t cute. I’d treasure my polishes even more if the packaging was even more ‘loud’ like maybe a pastel graffiti design! Anyway… let’s get on to the swatches!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Ice Cream Cake is a blue-based pastel pink, my favourite! Very pretty, reminds me of Barbie and cotton candy! The shade is not that unique but I couldn’t find a similar shade in my stash. It is kinda like a cross between OPI Sparrow Me The Drama and OPI Shorts Story.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Little Girl Type is a blue-based pale pastel lavender. I’m not sure what I am going to associate this colour with but… the name of this polish is W.E.I.R.D. Little Girl Type?? What does that even mean? It’ll be creepy if men started saying ‘little girls are my type’ hahaha! OPI Rumples Wigglin’ is pretty similar except that it has a slightly darker tone.
(sorry, typo in the swatch picture!!)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mischievous Mint is a pale pastel mint. Again, I can’t think of anything that is cute and minty at the same time… maybe a mint ice cream?? A polish similar to this would be China Glaze Re-fresh Mint but the latter seems to be much lighter in comparison! Mischievous Mint is leaning more to jade green than a minty colour as compared to Re-fresh Mint!

Overall, these shades aren’t that unique but I think Ice Cream Cake deserves the attention in this collection because there is no close dupes! The brushes really suck in all of these, hence the messy swatches! I deeply apologise for that but the brush bristles were at fault too! Some of the bristles are sprayed out in different directions so it was kinda hard to do a decent swatch. The formula of these were alright, very thick, creamy and pigmented. All of my swatches are two coats, no top coat.

I hope this was helpful! :)

(I need to get more polish remover, I’m running out of them yikes!)

MAC Jeanius: Biker Blue Nail Lacquer Swatches and Review

Photobucket

I bought MAC Biker Blue two days ago, the same day which I bought OPI Shim-merry Chic. I finally saw it retailing at the MAC counter because weeks before, Frayed to Order was always there and I didn’t want it at all. Frayed to Order is a white matte with soft pink duochrome pearl. I didn’t want another pearl shade and matte definitely isn’t my favourite finish. (maybe I’ll pick that one out just because I want to complete the collection! I’m a weirdo) Polishes from this collection retail for $22 because they’re limited edition. I managed to get the last bottle of Biker Blue at Orchard Tangs, lucky me!

MAC Biker Blue is said to be a black base with purple and blue pearl and a frost finish. WHAAAT??? I definitely didn’t see any purple pearl or shimmer in the polish and neither does it have a frost finish. Here’s my take on this polish: this is definitely a blue shimmer in a black base. THAT’S IT. NO PURPLE PEARL OR FROST FINISH. In my opinion, this polish does stand out because of the crazy blue shimmer but not unique at all. I wish it did have purple in it. It’s like in the same family as China Glaze Ruby Pumps only that its blue.

The sun wasn’t that strong today so I apologise for the bad pictures! They can’t seem to capture the beauty of the blue shimmers too. :( Application was great, formula was abit runny. I did three coats of Biker Blue and one coat of Seche Vite. Since the formula was runny, I can’t seem to cover my nail tips.

MAC Wonder Woman Nail Lacquers Swatches and Review

I’m so excited for today’s post!!! :D BAM! POW! WHOOSH! I bring you… MAC Wonder Woman Nail Lacquer Collection!

Postcard from MAC counter

Photobucket

I love the detailed packaging on this one! And also when you flip over the other box, it has another part of Wonder Woman image!

Photobucket

MAC nail polishes in this collection retail for $24/bottle. They’re slightly expensive from the normal range which is $19/per bottle because of the packaging and the licensing of Wonder Woman. That aside, I couldn’t comment on the comparisons of the quality of the polishes in this collection and the normal range because these were my first MACs polishes. MAC Wonder Woman collection consist of 2 ‘Wonder Woman’ polishes, Obey Me & Spirit of Truth.

Obey Me is a true red (as stated on MAC’s website) and the nail line is still visible after two coats.

Spirit of Truth is a navy blue (as stated on MAC’s website). Many people say that China Glaze’s First Mate is a good dupe for this.  However, First Mate is slightly darker than Spirit of Truth but not that obvious. So if you have First Mate, skip this one!

Both polishes does dry in a matte finish, its pretty rough so I’d recommend a top coat. Pictures taken are without base and top coat.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I have to say that applying this polish was like applying cream on the cake. Absolutely smooth and I had no problems with the brush or formula.

I have to be honest. I thought I didn’t have to run out and purchase these polishes because quite frankly, these are common colours. I can easily get other brands of polish for a cheaper price. However, the main reason why I bought these is because of the packaging. I think the majority of you who purchased something from the WW Collection was because of the packaging right?? What’s more, its limited edition.

Here’s the story on how I got these two polishes. Obey Me was OOS at the Tangs outlet and I got pretty frantic. (I like having the whole collection instead of 1 miserable item!) I had to run over to Raffles Place to get it. Wow I couldn’t believe this is the first time I travelled to somewhere deliberately just to buy a polish. MAC YOU GOT ME. I LOVE YOUR PACKAGING. I love the design, the red boxes, the white and red stars and most importantly, the design of the bottle.

Thanks for looking! :)

MAC Wonder Woman

I JUST GOT MY HANDS ON MAC WONDER WOMAN NAIL POLISHES!!! :D

Ok juz a little heads up to those who wanna get yours! Go to Raffles Place MAC to get it because there’s a discount! I got Spirit of Truth from TANGS and Obey Me from Raffles Place cause TANGS didn’t have the red one anymore :( and I should have gotten both polishes from Raffles Place cause there’s a discount at that outlet! (so end up I bought one polish at the original price zzz)

Hehe swatches soon I promise! :)
