Zebra Attitude

This customer of mine; Chen Li has really long nail beds and nails!!!!! Sigh, I wish my nails were her length! Lengths like these are perfect for nail art and this is what she chose!

Before coming to my place, she told me she wanted zebra print but was unsure on what base colour to choose. Since she loves blue, I suggested using alternate base colours and alternate zebra print for that funky look!

Photobucket

She chose Essie Aruba Blue and OPI What’s With The Cattitude? as the base colours and the art was all done with striper brushes. I added the finishing touch by adding silver glitter along the spaces; I love how glitter glams up the look!

Last picture of the nails of both best friends! :D I love how they squealed a little when they left my place because they love their nails! Its times like these that I feel that going into nails is the best choice for me :’)

Manicures, manicures and more manicures!

What a busy evening I had on Friday night! Hehe I love it when customers do nail art cuz I’ll have pretty photos to post up to share!

LIKE Mental For Polish’s fanpage for more frequent updates :) Thank you for your lovely feedback, I am going to improve and do better each time! ^^

Abby’s floral accent nail using Essie Turquoise and Caicos!

Kacey’s gelish with polka dots and ribbon. I feel like I did badly on my ribbon and I couldn’t justify the cost that I quoted so I charged her lesser. The base colour used here is Seafoam, a pretty pale mint green!

Kim’s polka dot manicure using Color Club’s Wild At Heart. Normally I don’t do polka dots on shimmery bases but this one looked really good! Haha Kim said it looked like presents! :)

I had a fun time listening to her stories LOL!

Essie Braziliant

I have to say that Fridays and Saturdays are the most tiring days of the week!! Didn’t eat any meals at all the entire day because I was so busy doing nail services for customers. And time passes really quickly too which is kinda awesome since I’m counting down the days that my boyfriend gets back. I think I didn’t mention this but my boyfriend is currently in China doing his attachment for 6 weeks! 2 more weeks to go and he’ll be back! :D :D

Anyway, do support my selling post! I updated with lots of new loot :) Let me know what you want to see more :D

Photobucket

Essie Braziliant is a coral-red duochrome with very fine silver and red shimmer. Very bright and obnoxious!! My pinky looks damn out of shape :( someone filed it too short! (my nails were given to other people for training and such!)

Have a lovely day, everyone! Do come and visit me if you’re around Bugis area! ^^

Essie Pansy & Nubar Black Polka Dot

Good afternoon! :) Decided to do a bit of experimenting with Nubar Black Polka Dot today :) I actually tried many combinations when my nails were pretty short and I love it best with bright/pastel colours!! I really recommend this polish if you love layering and glitter!

Photobucket

In this mani, I layered Nubar Black Polka Dot over Essie Pansy. I love how the hot pink is toned down after adding a layer of black glitter. Nubar Black Polka Dot is a tinted sheer black base with large hexagon glitter with small black glitter. These glitter isn’t reflective so I think it’d be a great idea to layer it over shimmers too!

Yep I only did one coat of BPD over and it looks like I got quite an even number of glitters on all my nails! The best thing about this tinted polish is that you can add more layers, depending on how many glitters you want, without making the polish look too thick!

I’ll be posting up Michelle Nail Color swatches from Beadstreet either tonight or tomorrow morning! Keep a lookout! :D

Summer Stripes and Floral Nail Design

Hello everyone! I’m back to the nail art business!!!!!! :D I copied this design off Nail Up magazine from the July issue. I did my own variation so I hope you like it :) A Summer design even though its almost over haha!

Photobucket

I used OPI Alpine Snow and Essie Lapis of Luxury as my bases! I used my nail art stripers for my pointy, middle and little finger and a dotting tool for the flowers. It was pretty simple to re-create this, I like the look of layering flowers on top of one another so I might do another variation for this :> Colours not mentioned can be found under the tags section as usual ;) I added rhinestones to my middle finger as a little accent because the stripes were a little plain for me. (I always want a little sparkle in my life, lol)

I shall let you feast on the pictures instead!

Lefty :D Not very satisfied with the lines I made because it was kinda slanted.

I went to Kim’s place today to do my gel nails and she’s so friendly and pretty! Love her pink hair haha! I’ll post up pics of my gelish mani tomorrow :)

Essie Absolutely Shore

Hi guys!! I have a draft post for you guys today :)

Tomorrow is the last day of my mid-school term and in another week or so, it’s the exam period!!!! :(

Photobucket

Essie Absolutely Shore is a gorgeous light mint creme. It is a very subtle green; with only a tinge of it and it looks almost white from far. I did three coats for this and look how it bubbled up! :( it was thick and streaky and I had to put in about 5 drops of thinner.

This didn’t last long on me either because I screwed up my mani on my right hand and I removed it as soon as I finished taking the pictures.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Argh, I think I might redo the swatch of this in the near future because it’s looks horrible on second thought. :/

Essie Splash Of Grenadine + Nubar 2010

I have an important test tomorrow so I’m gonna keep this short and sweet :) I cut/filed down my nails to the same length because it’s so weird seeing them a different length lol!

Photobucket

Essie Splash Of Grenadine is a muted, dusty pink with a touch of purple. It’s neither a pink or a purple, it’s somewhere in between. I find that I don’t really like this on me, I prefer looking at it from the bottle. The formula is very very streaky, I had bald spots at almost every nail! It was thick as well so it definitely takes time for each coat to dry before putting on the next one!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Also… because of some bald spots that I couldn’t save, I layered Nubar 2010 over as a cover up! I love it when glitter/flaky polishes come to the rescue! I have a mini dent at my pointer and I doubt you can see it :P I probably should get a backup for Nubar 2010… It’s lovely! I’ve not layered over darker colours yet so I’d definitely be giving that a try soon!

Photobucket

Goodnight everyone! I’m getting a little bit sleepy but I’m gonna persevere and continue revising until I drop-dead on my table, lol!

Essie Fair Game

Hello! Sorry for the late postings these days, I’ve been busy with school work! Anyway I have exciting news to share! The Halloween Horrors team contacted me and said I was shortlisted from my auditions! (WOOHOOOO!!!) so I need to attend a briefing tomorrow and a training camp next weekend in order to be on the scare actors team! I’m already looking forward for this year’s Halloween :D

They actually sent me an email saying I was not selected the day before and I was feeling kinda bummed out. They apologized for the error the day after and voila… I’m IN!!!! :D

Lol ok sorry for the long intro, I get too hyped up at times! :P

Photobucket

Essie Fair Game is a frosty gunmetal blue-grey with silver shimmer. Frost polishes are my least favorite but I don’t know why I bought this but I’m loving it! The brush strokes wasn’t that visible on the nail which I’m really surprised at because frosty polishes always have this poison factor that most of us dislike.

Anyway I really like the colour of this one and how it looks on me! I did 2 coats here and application was a breeze. But exactly 12 hours later, I had an enormous chip at my thumb and subsequently on my ring finger as well. I guess Essie doesn’t last a day on me :/ how I wish the formula was as good as the colour!

I need to go finish up my tutorials now because I need to study for an important test this coming Tuesday! ;) Goodnight!

Double Accent Blue Floral Nail Design

Hiya! Sorry for the late posting, I went to Universal Studios Singapore today and I’m so so so so tired right now!!! I think I walked for over 12 hours, and I’m really not kidding about that number. The weather is hot as usual, but luckily not a rainy one :D This is actually my second time there and this time I went because of my Dad’s company family event! We ended up walking away with the top prize of the treasure hunt of $100 vouchers because I’m just too smart at giving the correct answers, LOL! (self-praise here, I’m sorry!) Hehe, and we used the vouchers for our fab dinner at the Hard Rock Hotel! The food was meh and it was too overpriced. I think even Botak Jones’ Fish & Chips tasted much better.

Anyway, I’m not sure whether I’m the first to do a double accent nail design… but here it is!!!! :D I love doing floral designs so I decided to duplicate it in a different colour!

Photobucket

I used Essie Lapis Of Luxury on my middle and ring fingers and the rest with Essie Aruba Blue. I did 3 coats for all. Lapis Of Luxury is a beautiful cornflower blue, it isn’t pastel nor a bright; its somewhere in the middle. It is also a little bit streaky. After the second coat, it wasn’t even completely opaque yet. I worn this mani for about 10 hours before it chipped on my index finger :/

As usual, look over to the tags to find out what polishes I used! ;)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Decided to do something out of my norm today, so here’s a few USS photos to spice things up a little!

Photobucket

Kungfu Panda! He’s sooo cute hahaha! Big and round!

Photobucket

Photobucket
We caught 2 Betty Boopers today! I like the second one better because she was so much more friendly! (I don’t like how the first BP is touching my dad’s chest, argh!) That’s my mum’s twin sister if you’re wondering who’s the extra lady, lol.

Photobucket

Woody Woodpecker! Look at my oily hair, you guys!

Photobucket

I certainly look like a tourist with that cap on. -_-

Alright so that’s about the photos that I wanna share! We didn’t take alot of photos because we’ve forgotten to bring our dslr :<

Have a lovely Sunday!!

Green Floral Nail Design

HEY ALLLLL!!!!

You cannot believe how relieved I am right now! 5 days of tests are overrrr and I’m glad to be doing my usual swatching and nail art ;) Anyway, I’m dying to try my new Essies which I bought at Nex at a store called Ministry Of Cube. Definitely should check out that place, it has lots of polishes! I wish they had more range on the Essie side though. Moving on… the colours I picked up was Van D’ Go, Lapis of Luxury, Splash Of Grenadine and lastly, Turquoise & Caicos!

I practically snapped up all the ‘good’ colours since the range wasn’t that wide, lol. I managed to get the last green polish which was Turquoise & Caicos! I have to thank my reader, Tess for telling me that there was only one left.

I am so excited to try Turquoise & Caicos so here it is!! :D

Photobucket

Turquoise & Caicos is a beautiful paris green, the polish looks much lighter in the bottle than on the nails though. I don’t think it looks like a true turquoise. I did 3 coats. Application was smooth but for the first two coats, I did have issues in streaking and bald spots. I’m glad the third one covered it up because I’m not going to like a polish that takes 4 coats and above to get the bottle colour :/

Photobucket

Photobucket

Nah, I wasn’t going to stop here. I did another floral design inspired by Liz by Liquid Jelly! I like what she did to her nails and I wanna try it! And she included a video tutorial which was done by Jessie of Jelly Nails and I didn’t realise how easy it is to do flowers on my nails! Great tutorial by Jessie, you guys should definitely go watch :)

So here’s my design… Sorry, I included lots of photos because it was just too pretty! It’s a perfect time to do a floral mani today because I’m going to Mum’s company event tomorrow with my Dad and my boyfriend for Family Day!

Photobucket

Photobucket

IDK why but the sunlight made the flowers look extra yummy… lol

Photobucket

Photobucket

And a last picture of my right hand!

Photobucket

I did an accent nail on my thumb on my left hand and on my middle finger on my right. Hope that sentence doesn’t sound confusing… hahaha!

Polishes used:

Essie Turquoise & Caicos
Elianto White
Revlon Red
OPI Jade Is The New Black

Have a great Friday everyone!!!! I’m gonna party at home with my laptop and watch as much videos as possible, lol.
