Let’s Layer Pink!

It’s another Pink Wednesday! I’m actually heading to school now for a talk on my study trip to Hongkong this Sept! I missed 2 lectures in the morning again because I couldn’t get up :/ lol. I’m such a lazy ass this term :(

Anyway, let’s get on to the mani!

Photobucket

Bases used: Elianto Thistle & OPI Sparrow Me The Drama. Click on the links for more description/photos/reviews on those polishes!

Castledew Purple Miracle has very fine blue, purple glitter and large hexagon pink glitter in a clear base. The purple glitter is the dominant one in this. Castledew might be a brand that is foreign to most of you but you can easily get them locally at Beauty Language. They are more specialised in the cosmetics side but I didn’t pick up any of their stuff to try yet. This polish is actually a gift from my friends last year for my birthday <3

China Glaze Blue Iguana

Photobucket

Blue Iguana looks like a normal blue glass-flecked in its bottle but on the nails, it totally reveals its true nature, like a chameleon! It’s a beautiful medium blue glass flecked with tiny blue and purple shimmers in it. The purple only shows up at certain angles, which makes this polish a little special than my other blue glass-flecked polishes!

Photobucket

China Glaze’s formula for this year has been rather thick. I’m not a fan of that because it gets goopy at half the time. :/ Also, its a little tricky to apply. I did 3 coats here. It does look sheer in the pics but IRL, it really isn’t!

And because I was about to take off my mani, I finally successfully did a tape mani! This is totally inspired by Chloe’s Nails but I can never do a tape mani correctly after doing a fresh mani because the tape will definitely destroy my base colour! :( I’m not a pro in this so that explains the jagged lines instead of straight ones. I need more practice!

Green Floral Nail Design

HEY ALLLLL!!!!

You cannot believe how relieved I am right now! 5 days of tests are overrrr and I’m glad to be doing my usual swatching and nail art ;) Anyway, I’m dying to try my new Essies which I bought at Nex at a store called Ministry Of Cube. Definitely should check out that place, it has lots of polishes! I wish they had more range on the Essie side though. Moving on… the colours I picked up was Van D’ Go, Lapis of Luxury, Splash Of Grenadine and lastly, Turquoise & Caicos!

I practically snapped up all the ‘good’ colours since the range wasn’t that wide, lol. I managed to get the last green polish which was Turquoise & Caicos! I have to thank my reader, Tess for telling me that there was only one left.

I am so excited to try Turquoise & Caicos so here it is!! :D

Photobucket

Turquoise & Caicos is a beautiful paris green, the polish looks much lighter in the bottle than on the nails though. I don’t think it looks like a true turquoise. I did 3 coats. Application was smooth but for the first two coats, I did have issues in streaking and bald spots. I’m glad the third one covered it up because I’m not going to like a polish that takes 4 coats and above to get the bottle colour :/

Photobucket

Nah, I wasn’t going to stop here. I did another floral design inspired by Liz by Liquid Jelly! I like what she did to her nails and I wanna try it! And she included a video tutorial which was done by Jessie of Jelly Nails and I didn’t realise how easy it is to do flowers on my nails! Great tutorial by Jessie, you guys should definitely go watch :)

So here’s my design… Sorry, I included lots of photos because it was just too pretty! It’s a perfect time to do a floral mani today because I’m going to Mum’s company event tomorrow with my Dad and my boyfriend for Family Day!

Photobucket

Photobucket

IDK why but the sunlight made the flowers look extra yummy… lol

And a last picture of my right hand!

I did an accent nail on my thumb on my left hand and on my middle finger on my right. Hope that sentence doesn’t sound confusing… hahaha!

Polishes used:

Essie Turquoise & Caicos
Elianto White
Revlon Red
OPI Jade Is The New Black

Have a great Friday everyone!!!! I’m gonna party at home with my laptop and watch as much videos as possible, lol.

Elianto Silky Brown

Hello, morning ladies! Last night was my brother’s 21st and we had a quiet celebration at home. My brother wasn’t keen on doing something fancy or whatnot so we had a nice dinner at Jack’s Place with mango cake, yum! I was so full yesterday!!

Anyway, this is one of my long-awaited drafts that I was wanting to post up! (you can see my nails are short and there’s no watermark!) This is the polish that I used as base for my Into The Wild nail design :) so here it is in it’s full glory!

Photobucket

Elianto Silky Brown is a dull copper with a slight metallic finish. It’s a little bit watery but I still like it anyway. I think this colour is great for leopard nail designs, haha!

Photobucket

I think Elianto is so underrated compared to other brands such as Etude House, The Face Shop etc! Personally I still prefer polishes from Elianto because the formula is easy to work with and the brush is kinda similar to China Glaze; thin and long but definitely a joy to work with. I bought a few polishes from The Face Shop on Saturday from the Lovely Mix range and I have to say I love the colours that they’ve come up with but definitely not the formulae and the brushes, eek! I feel like I’ve wasted my money :(

OPI Ogre The Top Blue V.S. Elianto Dodger Blue

Hello :) Today I have for you another comparison! Last weekend I went to a flea at Iluma and picked up a few OPI’s from Smoochiezz/Hazel and Ogre The Top Blue was one of them! When I reached home, I find the shade rather familiar and found out that I have a similar blue in my stash! Swatches are 2 coats with SV top coat.

Photobucket

Photobucket

In terms of colour, Ogre The Top Blue is a little bit darker and muted than Dodger Blue.  In terms of opacity, there is a big difference. OTTB was opaque in one coat whole DB was abit streaky and slightly sheer but with 2 coats, the problem was solved. Even though both of them are not dupes, I think you can do away with the other if you own either one of these. But in my opinion for the price of the polish, I’d recommend Elianto because it is much more affordable and I don’t have any problems with the brand’s polish in terms of application and formula. However, I still prefer OPI because of the Pro-wide brush :)

Photobucket

Let me know if you want more comparisons! ;)

Into The Wild Nail Design

My boyfriend got me a hoodie from Uniqlo yesterday ;) The material is so stretchy, smooth and soft and I love it! Hehe it’s also the first time he bought clothes for me so I’M SOOO HAPPY!!! I’m going to bring that hoodie to Tioman for diving tonight, in case it’s chilly over there! Don’t worry, I still have posts scheduled for the weekend for you!! ^^

This nail design is inspired by a Youtube nail tutorial by a really awesome nail guru, Raquel :) I really love her designs and her tutorials are so easy to follow! Her nails doesn’t get stained even when she does her nails all the time. I’m jealous! And her nails are so long and strong too! I can never grow my nails that long :/

Anyway, here’s her video on how to do it!

I changed the color of the border into silver instead because I think there’s too much bronze/brown/gold on the design so the silver glitter would stand out better. I only did 2 colour blocks with prints instead of doing all three. Again, I think there’s too much leopard print going on so I omitted doing it on the bronze section.

Photobucket

And here’s my left hand for the curious people, hahaha!

Photobucket

Okay the only bad thing about going to diving is that I’ll be back with peeling and broken nails :(

Have a fab Friday!!! ^^

Elianto Racing Green

Argh… I seriously hate Mondays. Firstly, every Monday I have to fight with my brother for the toilet. He always wins by a slight second and I’ll be late for school as a result!! :( Secondly, school hours are the longest today from 9AM-5PM!!

Photobucket

Okay enough ranting. Today I have for you.. Elianto Racing Green! I love the name of this, it makes me feel like I’m in a rush! I love the colour… its the colour of rich green grass with massive tiny specks of gold! I wanna believe that the gold are dew drops ;) There’s a slight blue tint at the corner of all my nails which is so weird and funny because it looks like a border hahaha

Anyway… this colour looks so familar!! Kinda looks like a dupe for Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe from their 2010 Holiday collection! Will be doing a comparison post soon for these two colours!

Photobucket

I hope you have a better Monday than I am! :)

Elianto Thulian Pink

Happy Mothers’ Day! I missed spending the day with my mum but I’ll be back in Singapore tonight! Hurray! Home’s still the best place on earth! :)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Elianto Thulian Pink is a muted rose colour, a cross between a red and magenta. This has a soft and dusty look to it which I really love ;) It kinda looks like what my Mum would wear on her nails. It gives off this musky look and I’m amazed by how well it complements my skin tone. I think this color would totally fit into the OPI Pirates of The Caribbean collection!

Photobucket

Application was wonderful as usual, I did 2 coats. This was completely opaque in the first, a big thumbs up! Opacity was really good as well, the brush and polish glided smoothly on my nails. I can’t believe I am only paying attention to Elianto right now! I’m going to buy more if I do pass by the store! ;)

Elianto Thistle

Happy Pink Wednesday!

I’m having my Halloween audition today and I’m so nervous! Haha I’m just gonna sit on a chair, stroking a doll’s hair and have slight spasms. Also, my original idea was to buy fake blood pills and let them drip out from my lips! Sounds good, no? But… I couldn’t find any fake blood pills at a party store near me so I shall forget about that!

I’ll let you know how it turns out! I really hope I’m in! :/

Photobucket

Today’s Pink Wednesday features Elianto Thistle! She is a muted lavender pink creme! I love this one! Sorry this isn’t a true pink for Wednesday but it’s still partial pink right? Hehe. I did 2 coats which was optimal and I think this one looks fairly close to OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender but I’m can’t be sure unless I did a comparison but unfortunately, I don’t own the OPI that I’ve mentioned.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I can’t get enough of Elianto! You need to try their polishes if you haven’t! Their brushes are okay, not flimsy. (I’m staring at you, Essie!) And the quality and the formulae is really top notch for its price!

P.S. Wish me luck for the audition! ^^

Elianto Mahogany

I started watching ‘Naughty Kiss’ last night because I was on the couch after dying my mum’s hair and I was switching channels when I came across it. I didn’t watch it before because I still think the Taiwanese version; ‘It Started With A Kiss’ is so much better! That episode that I was watching yesterday was sort of the highlight of the show. It was their first kiss scene! IMO, the Taiwanese version did it better. But I find the Korean version is much more refreshing because of the different script lines and additional scenes.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Anyway, today I have for you… Elianto Mahogany! It is a reddish bronze brown with heavy yellow shimmer. This polish is awesome! It shows a tinted purple in the sunlight! Elianto is really great at doing shimmers, I love them! And it’s a big plus that they’re so inexpensive and available in Singapore! Sometimes I feel sad when I go to other nail blogs and they rave about other brand polishes that are so cheap because those can’t be found in Singapore! :( Brands like: Nubar, Sparitual, Wet ‘N’ Wild etc! Even if I can find them, they’re are bound to be overpriced.

Photobucket

Here’s a close up! Look how gorgeous the shimmers are!

P.S. Omg, I have very exciting news!!!! I am so happy right now!! I submitted my application form last week and I just received an email saying that I have an audition in school this coming Wednesday. Okay you must be thinking what audition it is. I’m not going to sing or dance or act. I’m going to audition to be a ‘ghost’. Yes… you heard that right! It’s an Halloween event for Night Safari and if I am selected to be a ‘ghost’, I get paid for scaring people on the whole month of October! How cool is that? ;P
