Chanel Graphite

Okay… I have an announcement to make!!!! I’ll be starting work tomorrow as a permanent part-time manicurist for Milly’s! How exciting is that? I get free training (obviously), learn how to do a professional manicure/pedicure (and maybe more skills if I learn fast enough) and be with hundreds of bottles of polishes, yay!! So starting from tomorrow, nail posts will probably be scheduled before 12pm or after 11pm :)

I went down for an interview today and I got hired on the spot :D I love bosses that are so fast in their decision-making, haha! My portfolio was the link to this blog <3 <3 Oh, and a good thing is that I can wear whatever that is comfortable to work!

Chanel Graphite is a silver metallic foil with bits and pieces of gold shimmer scattered all around. This is incredibly shiny and eye-catching! And it does look like an actual Graphite, hurray! Finally a polish that does justice to its name :)

Wow, my nails are really short and round here, I filed down my nails and now they’re looking much more square :D

Thank you, each and everyone of you for your comments/opinions and asking for comparisons!

Chanel Peridot

I seriously need a break from studying! I have 3 more papers, so wish me luck! I’m going to continue my revision as soon as I get this post up :)

Photobucket

Chanel Peridot is a tarnished gold metallic, flashing hints of blue-green at the edges. This is breath-taking and absolutely stunning. Now Chanel has definitely surprised me this Fall! This kinda looks like the colour I get when my rings touch the water and leaves a green-gold mark on  my fingers. Not exactly beautiful when stained on my skin but this colour looks pretty good on my nails!

The formula was amazing, this was fully opaque in one coat but I did 2 anyway :) And I apologise for the few dents and marks on my nails… I guess my bed sheets like to get in the way or I’m too clumsy :P

I actually wore this to take my exam and I have one advice. Never ever wear attention-seeking nails because they really divert attention really well, lol.

Chanel Summer 2011 Morning Rose: Swatches & Review

Hey guys!! I woke up to a big rain this morning and the feeling of snuggling up in bed was sooo good. It’s been ages since I’ve slept till I’m happy to wake up!

Photobucket

Chanel Morning Rose is a warm coral pink with light golden shimmer. Sorry my photos look so blue, the colour is leaning much more to coral instead of a bluish pink. The shimmer is outstanding in the bottle but somehow it doesn’t show up much on the nails, which is quite a bummer. I did 3 coats to cover up the streakiness and bald spots. Usually, I always do 2 coats with Chanel’s polishes but however, this time I needed 3!

Anyway this is limited edition and from what I’ve heard, it looks like it’s already sold out from my local Chanel counters :/ I think Beige Petale is still available!

I hope you have a great Saturday! I’m staying home to watch Kungfu Panda with my boyfriend :)

Lotsa Haul Goodies!!!

I went a little bit crazy last night and bought quite a number of stuff that I’ve been eying on for a few weeks now. I went straight to the Chanel’s counter at Orchard Tangs and I was surprised that they still have Morning Rose instock!!!! :D Can you sense my joy??? Haha, if I can have Beige Petale, I’m complete lolol!

Topshop nail polishes, $13 each
Chanel nail polishes, $36 each

So apparently they had a 15% off for sales items in Topshop for members so I went to take a look. There wasn’t much items that I like under their sales section but I caught a couple of items that I really want but it was too expensive. They have this flowy silk beige/brown long sleeve shirt going for $59 and also this denim camel brown jacket for $69! Both are so gorgeous but…. no way for my wallet. ;( I ended up purchasing a pair of Moto high-waist shorts so that they’re good to go for school! And I always get sucked into buying their underwear *winks*

Here are some tops that I tried it with:

This ‘top’ is actually a dress hahahaha, looks so weird!

Photobucket
Please ignore the spastic face, HAHAHA! I didn’t even notice the expression till I got home! This top was under the sales section and it was going for $29! I would have bought it if it wasn’t for the big arm holes at the side. I don’t really approve of showing my bra in public :P

Haha then I went to another Topshop outlet and browsed through their makeup section! Haha obviously I was only eying on the polishes lol. I’ve swatched the colours on my colour wheel and I’m really impressed with the quality and the brush.

And lastly, I went to Sephora to get Hand Food; Soup and Glory hand cream! I’ve heard great reviews about this brand and I couldn’t wait to try it! I think I will use it on my legs as well. Lately, it’s so dry that my skin keeps cracking and peeling. And it smells so good!!! Hahaha I was taking full advantage of the tester displayed!

I wanted to get the mini bottle but after comparison with the normal bottle, I bought the normal version instead. Mini bottle cost $7 for 50ml, Normal bottle cost $11 for 125ml.

Prices stated are without discount. So that’s my haul! It’s been ages since I’ve shopped so much!

Thanks for looking :)

Chanel Paradoxal

Photobucket

Kill me now… I’m going overseas in 2 days and I’m having a severe blocked nose. I’m sneezing every few seconds and my nose is like a running tap. >;( I really hate it when I’m down with the flu. I rather have a fever than a flu because I’m so uncomfortable right now! My nose is red and when the tissue touches my nose area, I kinda cringe a little because it hurts to blow out all the unslightly stuff in it.

Anyway, it’s Chanel’s Paradoxal on my nails today! I’m not sure how to describe this colour… its a dark taupe-y purple with a subtle purple shimmer that stands out when under the sunlight! (My photos doesn’t show the shimmer! :/) I don’t have a great wear for Chanel’s polishes. Chanel’s Black Pearl chipped in a day when I did practically nothing. All I did that day was shopping. But I really like Chanel’s polish brushes and the application was smooth and clean. I barely need to do any clean up! These were only two coats, with one coat of Seche Vite!

I’m supposed to go register for my driving today but I couldn’t wake up ;( Its all the way at Bukit Batok which is about … 15 MRT stops away from my place!

Also… yesterday I went to PNC Traders at Chinatown which is my favourite nail supplies store (google PNC Traders for the address!!) to get more polish remover. But besides getting 3 bottles of those, there was a new polish display from OPI and its… …. Femme de Cirque 2011 Softshades collection! I saw the exact same display at my local mall and it was going for $18 per polish which is seriously overpriced. I wanted to get only ‘I Juggle… Men‘ from PNC Traders but they only sell it as a whole collection, meaning I must get all 4 shades from that collection. So guess what?? (you can pretty much figure everything out since I’m a nail polish addict!!) Besides, they were only going for $9.50 per polish which was amazing for new collections!!!! I’m going to PNC Traders again today because they gave me double polishes yesterday, how annoying. I got 2 of ‘So Many Clowns… So Little Time’ and I’m missing ‘Step Right Up!’

Anyway, swatches of that collection will either be up tomorrow or next Monday :) Have a lovely Wednesday! (I think I ranted too much in this post!)

Chanel Spring 2011 Le Vernis: Peche Nacree

Photobucket

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to feature the last polish of this collection, Peche Nacree. As the name suggests, it is a peachy colour with a pink tone to it. Extremely delicate and I love that this polish has the least visible brush strokes compared to her sisters, Black Pearl and Pearl Drop. If you missed out on my review/swatches on Black Pearl and Pearl Drop, please click here.

I mentioned before that I could not decide whether to get Peche Nacree because it is the most unpopular polish among Black Pearl and Pearl Drop. I decided to get it anyway to fill up the entire Spring 2011 collection. Peche Nacree does not have a noticeable shimmer or reflex unlike the others but if you look closely, there’s a slight pink shimmer. It looks like a regular polish so I’d suggest you skip this one and get Black Pearl or Pearl Drop instead. I still think that peach or orange doesn’t look good on my skin :( There is also visible nail line after 2 coats so I’d suggest doing 3-4 coats for this polish

On to the pictures! (2 coats of Peche Nacree + 1 coat of Seche Vite!)

I’ve been pushing back my cuticles lately and it looks really horrible. I think I’m not doing it correctly. Sigh…. any suggestions??

Chanel Gondola

Photobucket

Chanel’s Gondola is a fushia shimmer with tiny red specks in it. It’s not a unique colour but I still like this. But I have issues with chipping for this one. I went shopping today for a new storage space in IKEA for my new polishes (*hint for next post!!! HEHEHE) and after a few hours, there’s minor tip wear :( I wouldn’t say Chanel has the best-wearing formula because it really isn’t. I wasn’t even doing heavy duty work. Its like paying $36 just to own the polish under Chanel’s name.

Application was flawless though, thankfully. If not I’d regret buying this polish.

Chanel Spring 2011 Le Vernis: Black Pearl & Pearl Drop

Photobucket

Hey guys! Today I am going to do a review on the latest Chanel’s nail polishes; Black Pearl and Pearl Drop. I know I’m missing Peche Necree but I don’t know whether I want to purchase that so we’ll see! Chanel nail polishes retail for $36 and I think these wasn’t limited edition so if you still haven’t get your hands on them, go get it! I’m just worried for my wallet… Luxury nail polishes are burning a huge hole in them.

With flash. My camera wasn’t picking up the teal reflex :(

I got Black Pearl 2 weeks ago but I didn’t get to swatch it until today. What attracted me most to this polish is that it is a gunmental colour that flashes teal, gray and blue. I love that its like a chameleon. Even though I’m not loving the frost finish and the visible brush strokes, I’m loving the colour ALOT. I feel like a rocker chick with this on!

More of Black Pearl… …

I finally decided to get Pearl Drop because I think these two polishes deserve to be together! I literally squealed when I place them side by side on my table. LOVE THEM!!!!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Pearl Drop is an off-white cream colour with flashes of gold in them. Similar like Black Pearl, it has a frost finish with visible brush strokes! But I’m sure with practice, those visible brush strokes wouldn’t be standing in your way. I have a love-hate relationship with this… It looks so pretty in the bottle until it gets on my fingernails… LOBSTER HANDS ALERT!!!! I can picture this would look good on fair-skinned women! This colour seems so suitable for office because it looks so elegant and classy.

Application was flawless for both polishes. They tend to be sheer for the first coat but completely opaque in the second. The visible brush strokes is even more prominent in Pearl Drop so you have to be really careful during application! I love Black Pearl more than Pearl Drop because Pearl Drop doesn’t really compliment my skin tone and nails. But currently, this is my favourite pearl colour among my other ones!

Thanks for looking! :)
